I don't know if they also got an editorial, if they did, I'll make sure to post the picture here I'm not entrely sure about robyn's spreaded legs pose, but it kind of works in the shot as a whole. I'm too busy staring at their amazing faces anyway :p if you can get the issue, go out and buy it, let's show the magazine industry how powerful the plus size consumer is, so that they'll do this more often ! Jun 01 11 12:43 pm Link What a wonderful, refreshing thread! I'm also what you would call a Plus size model and although I love my curves the industry isn't as bold as me, unfortunately. Photographers often say to me "Well, my personal opinion is that you could gain even 5 more lbs. But my professional opinion is that you have to lose 5 more lbs. I have to sell the pictures, and the industry requires THIN." I think it's a shame that so called Plus size (when I was a kid women with that size were called normally slim) doesn't get more encouragement from the industry. When I look at the faces of all the beautiful models posted on this thread I see EXPRESSION and joy, a lust for life, something that I often miss in the empty, bony faces of skinny models. And, working as a choreographer I have to say that "Plus size" girls often have a better feeling for their bodies than the thin ones. They know how to move and how to isolate the single parts of their bodies. They are in touch with themselves and that shows. Go curves! Jun 01 11 01:14 pm Link one picture from the editorial (this is Robyn) I want more! Marquita Pring is also going to be in the editorial, along with the 3 girls on the cover. whoop whoop! Jun 02 11 12:50 am Link in honor of the recent vogue italia plus size hotness cover, here are the pictures from 11 years ago, when plus size model Sophie Dahl got the same honor well, 2 plus size covers in 11 years (that's a total of 130 regular covers and 2 plus size ones!) is not exactly a good average, but I hope they won't wait another 11 years to do this Jun 02 11 05:50 am Link Hayley is working it 5'9 and a 12-14 Jun 04 11 05:40 am Link Dutch awesome model Peeky on the cover and in an editorial for Big is Beautiful (a print magazine in belgium, holland and germany) quick explanation about the plus size clothing market over here: we're not that fashionable yet. clothes are usually still very baggy and a bit oldfashioned, but we're starting to step it up now. so the styling isn't super exciting (although I LOVE that make up and hair!), but in this case it does work since they're going for this understated, relaxed feel anyway, right? and even with the very commercial styling, it still feels like fashion to me, which shows the importance teamwork, and how everyone involved can lift an image to another level. shot in cyprus (greece) by iris planting Jun 04 11 01:31 pm Link pictures of vogue italia are out! you can find them here! a lot of them are, according to mayhem rules, 18+ so I can't show them, but click on the link and see for yourself http://www.fashionising.com/pictures/p- … 66598.html Tara 'the face" Lynn Jun 05 11 05:22 am Link Marianne Michaela wrote: These are absolutely beautiful! Or if you know of someone, please let me know. Or point me in the right direction. You have NO IDEA how difficult models in general are to find, let alone awesome plus models. You guys are like shamrocks and unicorns. Jul 06 11 02:14 pm Link Shon D.- Femme wrote: well you could explain to them that you want to buiild experience in that area! I admit, shooting a plus size model is slightly different than shooting a straightsize model, but it's not like your portfolio doesn't show that you are very skilled at what you do, and that you have an obvious style... Perhaps not here on MM, per se... but out and about in the general populace. Family? Friends? It's summer time, so hit up the beach maybe....? Leave them your card and a link to your online port/this thread and see where it leads Jul 07 11 08:56 am Link Juani_Vel wrote: I'm sure she has no problem finding lovely big girls who would love a chance to pose for him. but not all of those lovely big girls are suitable as plus size models, and maybe don't have the look he needs to achieve a certain level of pictures he wants to send in to agencies. not trying to be bitchy here, just explaining Jul 07 11 08:59 am Link Is it just me or is it really sad that some of these women with perfectly flat stomachs or even ribs showing are considered plus size? Yes I know there's photoshop involved. But it's disgusting our culture considers these girls 'fat'. Jul 07 11 09:05 am Link Sarra Sanborn wrote: no, I don't think it's sad. some of them may not be plus size women, but they are plus size models. there is a difference. I agree though that it is sad that people think this is ugly Jul 07 11 09:09 am Link There's one thing that I was thinking about when it comes to plus size models (not trying to start anything) I've noticed that I don't really see any ethnic plus size models. With straightsized editorial modeling, you'd at least see a few black models and asian models in magazines and on the runways. It's already a bit difficult for ethnic models who are straightsized so maybe being an ethnic model and plus size model (who does editorial modeling) is like a double negative. Toccara Jones was in Vogue's All-Black issue but we all know how it is for models who've been contestants on ANTM Jul 07 11 06:52 pm Link QuietAsKept wrote: here is an interesting article for you! Most of the working plus models that you will see on a daily basis, working for everyone from Macys to Kohls to Forever 21 to lane Bryant and Catherines and kmart and sears, walmart, target, ross, marhalls, etc. (you get the idea) are 12's and 14's (US sizing). (Denise Bidot comes to mind right now, she is working for EVERYONE and is a solid 14) Jul 12 11 01:51 pm Link |
