Too little? Too much?
I certainly don't think it's too much....I'm rather surprised they will be forced to pay the piper even that much.

Is it possible corporate responsibility is on the horizon?
Nah....foolish of me to even hope for that.

I'd consider it fair since they haven't paid federal taxes in years.

I know....they've coughed up about 28 billion on other levels. Clean up, suits from victims estates....but for all the "criminal" charges, the only thing to take a hit was their wallet, which of course is pretty fat.

"BP will plead guilty to a dozen felony charges stemming from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and agreed to pay $4.5 billion in government penalties, the oil company said Thursday. "

But a dozen is more than 3 and corporations are people, my friend.

Doesn't 3 strikes apply?

Strikes system only applies to poor people like me who can't even pay a parking ticket. They like keeping the poor in their vice grip system of vicious cycles.

Cutting breaks and mega million dollar deals are for the rich so they can continue to ruin everything while still making a ton of money.

They should have to pay more, it's not like they don't have it.

They got off easy. They should rush to pay it and get it over with. How many other times in history can you single handedly destroy an entire gulf region and not go to jail?

Certainly a thought....but BP still needs to remain competitive in the market place.

Besides their profits and most all oil profits in recent years have been so obscene, they'll just keep doing what their doing and the 30 some odd billion this episode cost them will just be a blip.
