Life is bizarre sometimes... and with strange odds.

A descendent of Christian Fletcher dies on a replica of the HMS Bounty during Hurricane Sandy.

And just as today I watched the movie on it from 1986.

Like what are the odds?

Same as Gen. Yamamoto's plane shot from a few miles away by a single test bullet fired from one of the American planes sent to intercept him during WWII, as was common practice to test fire a few bullets from the main guns before aerial battle.

Or the first shell fired on Leningrad by the invading German army in 1941 killing the only elephant in the zoo.

So... what you're saying is......

... watch out if you're an elephant trying to land a plane on the deck of the Bounty in bad weather?

Her death was avoidable, but the the captain insisted to take Bounty out to meet Sandy in the most treacherous sea off Hatteras, NC.  It was sick to my stomach to hear this.  The captain had so many warning for so long, and yet he set sail from CT to Florida.

1.  He could stay put at CT
2.  He could sail to NYC harbor and up the Hudson river
3.  He could duck in Norfolk or in Potomac

The original Bounty had more than 65 professional crews, but he only had 15 inexperienced volunteer crew members on board. The engine was so under-power for her size.  It was a wooden boat that badly need fixing.

With such bad conditions, why would he willing to risk the live of others to face the storm of the century is beyond comprehension.   sad

RIP
