I might be in FL for a week in April. If anyone in that area wants to shoot, it can probably be arranged. I just prefer to discuss it privately via PM, because anyone I shoot with on this trip, I would like to sort of know first - meaning SF2ers or otherwise, folks I contact first.

Yep.
And no (I have no room for people sad)

I'm hoping within the next year or so to hit up the following places:
Vegas
Palm Springs (relatives have a condo down there)
Madeira Beach Area of Florida or The Keys in Florida (again have a place to stay)

But, that requires money...and a passport...and time off from work.

I can only travel when travel expenses (flight tickets, and a place to stay) are covered for me, such as it is in the FL trip situation. Otherwise, I don't have the money for it. I also have to arrange time off from my job now, so I can't just pack up and head off places, like I used to in the past.

I offered in the OP of the move Mary thread if we couldn't do that here, then lock it. It went a different direction so that wasn't necessary. So I have to ask again... Is that type of thing allowed on MM? If not, we would need a different place to collab and organize it.

I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed.
Its not really that much different than the secret santa stuff.

We'd have to have a list of hosts, a list of travelers, and funding.
Then a tour route that connects as many people as possible.

I see no reason why it can not be allowed.

These are good ideas.  How do we go about acheiving it?

Well it will be easy to get a list of people willing to travel, and a list of hosts.
We can just start a sign up thread.

I suspect the more difficult part will be deciding who travels, and how to fund the trip:

Does each member who wants to travel sign up for an account and everyone else apply funds until that person can make a trip?
How do we determine the destination?

Or should everyone pay $5 a month into an account? and then when it accumulates enough to pay for a trip we select a random member and travel route?

Or, do we go by regions?
For example I am in the San Francisco Bay.
Does our local group make a pool of money, and then from the list of traveling members, we select those who want to come to San Francisco. Then we vote on which member's trip to fund?

I guess the last one would make the most sense.

The regions idea probably is the most practical, however I can see a few flaws with it.  1: Regional imbalance.  There's a lot of folks in Cali, and over east, not so much here.  2:  I can see this idea becoming very much a popularity contest.  Everyone's got someone they'd like to work with, I know I do, while the rest of us in sparser regions, or lesser known folk get left out.  I'm not saying it won't work, just throwing out some things I think we'd need to deal with.

totally agree with your points.
is there any thoughts on how to balance it?

The regional imbalance, I'm not sure.  As for the popularity contest...there could be a rotation, something like "you can't be chosen to travel twice in a row." and give some waiting period.  Say you have to wait two "voting cycles" for lack of a better name.

I don't see why a 'popularity contest' would be a problem.
If everyone wants a certain member to travel, then why not?
Eventually that member would not be avail all the time.

So anyways, who is in?
Before I make a resource thread I want to know this idea won't flop.

I'd like to travel to the SW Desert again...like last March when I was in St. George, UT and the surrounding desert.

However this time, in addition to my scenery images...I would love to shoot some models in that beautiful red rock country!  Nudes in Nature...
