Okay, here's a game -- name an actor or actress and then name the project (movie, TV show, ad, whatever) that you guess that they most regret doing.

For example:  I'd guess that both Ashton Kutcher & Jennifer Gardner both regret doing Dude, where's my car?

Now you:

Sir Alec Guiness - Star Wars.  He really despised the dialogue in that movie.

George Clooney - Batman & Robin.

Richard Burton - Exorcist II

I think his break up with J.Lo was the best thing that ever happened to him. Yeesh.

John Malkovich's appearance in shitty action movies when he's not in art house / foreign movies (ie Jonah Hex, Knockaround Guys, Mutant Chronicles)

Jack & Adam Sandler in Anger Management,

Mel Gibson, Joe Pepsi (sp?), and Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon IV.

What do these movies have in common -- they all phoned it in.

No...Sir Alec Guiness didn't. He didn't like the fact he was killed off, and wasn't told about it until they started filming.

Everyone talks about that bad ass script of George Lucas...But it was nominated for WGA and Oscar..as was Alec...for his performance.

I was going to say Ben Affleck, but for Daredevil.

Dustin Hoffman for Ishtar, yes, certainly.

Joan Crawford, Trog.

Bela Lugosi, Plan 9 from Outer Space.

Michael Caine ("and I've done a lot of crap"), The Hand.

Waterworld gets bashed for the problems during production but it was actually not a bad movie. Any time you have Dennis Hopper as the bad guy is step in the right direction. Costner directed the last few weeks of production after the original director was fired.  And Waterworld was not one of the biggest losers; it made $264 million.

Clooney was on "Actor's Studio" and admitted to hating Batman and Robin.

I'd say Nicholas Cage regretted just about everything he's done...LOL.

Budget $176 million NA Box Office $88 million
Made the rest overseas
Before the overseas release I'm sure some execs were thinking "where did I leave the bullets for that gun?"

My guess:

Elizabeth Berkley / Showgirls 1995.

Although, I am told it is now a "cult classic" movie.

Honestly, I'd think Kyle Mclaughlin regrets that movie more...given that he was and is a working actor. Liz Berkley's chances were dubious before that film bombed.

Like...Kyle wouldn't do another season of "Twin Peaks" due to fear of typecasting.........but you though that movie was a good idea? big_smile

(Side note: I love how awful "showgirls" is)

Speaking of Kevin Kostner in Robin Hooh...

Morgan Freeman in Robin Hooh. That movie has to make him cringe. I'm surprised they didn't try slipping in some robots from the future into the script.

Just agree to disagree on this one. Was it a great movie? Not even close, but it was certainly a watchable action movie that got buried by all the publicity of the budget overruns and still made more than a quarter of a billion dollars.

Nyuk!!!!!!

A note about Bob Hoskins. Don't remember where I saw it, but he's quite unabashed about Super Mario Brothers being the regrettable moment of his career.

Bob, Bob, Bob... we'll always have, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." And I mean that in a very good way.
