Still chuckling at how outraged people are on Facebook over this trophy kill of an, oh so rare, Triceratops...

Well he must be very rich to be able to afford to do something like that. I gather the experienced hunting guides alone are very difficult to find.

I'm wondering...is anyone REALLY outraged?  Or is the outrage staged as well?

The Washington Post and other major papers are calling it a "social media storm".  Seriously, believe it or not.

That part is rather scary...

The original post may have been a joke but those that followed were just showing how people often act emotionally without thinking.
These are the same folks that signed petitions to ban water.

Apparently there's also an older photo circulating of the same man on a very large dead shark.

Of all the outraged comments, there are a few that point out the "obviously, the photos must have been photoshopped" (I kid you not).

The suggestions about setting up an organization where people can "help save these magnificent animals" for "only $20 a month" caught my eye... wink

[EDIT] Breaking news. There are reports that L'Oreal are cancelling their contracts with him...[/EDIT]

Triceratops are delicious.  Kind of a cross between a Whooping Crane and a Giant Panda.

Way back in 1974 when Spielberg was filming Jaws...Steven befriended the Great White Shark.  Calling him Bruce, after Spielberg's Attorney. You can see Spielberg riding on top of Bruce, and then the ultimate of bravery...Spielberg in the mouth of Bruce. Spielberg and Bruce were cool with one another.  Peta, was outraged and tried to shut down the Production of Jaws and boycotted Universal Pictures.

People were in the original.  Now that it's being found by people who are in on the joke, most people don't think it's real.

Was reading something about Yellowstone.    Comment from someone who had been there --> he had overheard in the park people wondering about where they keep the animals at night.

This kind of stupidity...makes my head hurt. They should be neutered and spayed to prevent them from passing on their genes. What a waste of oxygen.

That's irrelevant!

Triceratops is protected because they're an endangered species and shouldn't be hunted, period.

It depends when that picture was taken. I believe there was a brief period in 2012 in which all laws protecting the Triceratops were lifted.

Well, the earth is only 6000 years old. It says so in the Bible.

I don't think anyone actually believed this. It was more likely 'outrage' to continue the joke, with perhaps people not recognizing that those expressing 'outrage' are also joking.
