Photographers are supposed to be creative people...Right?
But when I read the tags and/or comments from some photographers to models....I wonder...

Some creative people have no idea on how to write coherently.

But just one worthless and incoherent opinion.   smile

Depends on where the majority of their blood is located when they are writing them

I try not to over think comments. I'm not writing a thesis I'm just letting someone know I think something is pretty or cool.  I try to be more descriptive when I'm writing critiques and stuff like that.

For tags, I've noticed lately, that more and more (both photographers and some models) talk about themselves or their "services" as if the promote themselves or borderline SPAM.

And then there are the occasional trolls...

I generally keep it short and simple.  "Beautiful", "Nice look", "great pose" something like that, if it's a model's portfolio.

I do try and make the comment about the model, when it's the model's portfolio, and about the photography if I'm commenting on a photographer's portfolio.

My favorites are always the exaggerated and overstated ones, such as "what an amazing look you have! Absolutely perfect!".

They always seem to be left on a horrible self shot camera phone image in a mediocre models port.  It's not like she is going to read it, become overwhelmed with gratitude, then come over and bang the admirer...

People are people. They are full of issues, prejudices, emotions, egos, and more, when they make their comments, and some simply come off wrong, because of those issues.

Some are overly critical, some are overly complimentary.

Only a limited number are going to be good writers, organize their thoughts well, and present them in an orderly fashion........especially if they don't want to be at the computer all day.

Because writing skill and photography skill are the same thing? Should dancers be expected to paint?

so, did you write this about your own work?

"Unlike many photographers, I do not have a style, look, or
technique that would identify me as the author of the image."

well, that explains it!

I really think people copy and paste comments. I have some comments from the same photographer on about 3-4 photos that are the exact same. Big, bold, wording designed with symbols

as usual you cant please everyone all the time,
only some of them some of the time.......if you dont like a comment or tag delete it, but telling people what opinion they should have when placing a comment or tag is beyond ridiculous........W

I recently read a comment on a model's picture that really irked me. The commenter told the model what "great cannons she had at the beach." Nothing about her pose, nothing about her clothing in the image. Just what a great pair of breasts she has. The next comment on the same picture was this emoticon :-) If this is all you've got why waste the keystrokes...

Hard to type a good comment when one hand is busy...

Honestly most of my photos have "Beautiful vagina" "Tasty" and "HOT!" I guess my boobs aren't as great as lady flower.

I guess if this the case... Cool, sexy.. Blah.. blah.. would be better.....
But I guess some photographers are not able to come up with any thing better....
Do you bother to respond to such comments?....What do they expect?

I'm not allowed to post what I really think as tags or photo comments.

They have to be mushy gushy and positive.

So......  STUNNING!  whatever that means.

She's not!!!

You mean I have been wasting my time?

The other one is "perfection", on an image I would delete as soon as I saw it.

I hate those, luckily it does not happen to photographers very often. I think these fall into the category mentioned above of over flattery as if the model is going to buy a plane ticket and bompne the commenter. Any thing that looks like it was made with an 80's vintage dot matrix printer gets deleted.

Sometimes I do get high falutin masters student type comments describing how the cariscura make s the blah blah blah. Common people. One or two words is enough for comments.
