Well, something came up at work and now they are flying me out to Ontario to help a customer. Probably be there for about 3 days. Anything I should do while I am out there? Good thing I got my passport a few years back.

In the old days, we just drove across Peace Bridge to have lunch in Canada (Fort Erie) every week. Canada is the best neighbor you can have. And Canadians are always happy people.....LOL

So, we decided to go to Montreal... drove up there, went through the border showing just our driver's licenses and they let us pass without problems... then on our way back... same thing... I hear it is really much more difficult now.

But I always heard they were stringent on entry(felonies, traffic citations, etc.); kinda funny considering they allow undocumented illegal aliens who cross our border into Canada. It looks like I'm headed to Tecumseh. Near Windsor apparently.

The province of Ontario is like Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado and Utah combined. Windsor is on the other side of Detroit. It's like Detroit light.

When are you going? I'll be in the Detroit area on August 5th for a few weeks. Don't you have family there too?

I'm leaving either tomorrow morning or in the afternoon. No family in Canada. Besides, I'm only there for a few days to resolve a customer problem with our products. I won't be doing any driving so I'll take cab or something to get around. My expenses will be paid for by my employer/customer.

I hear it is really much more difficult now. In the 70's to late 80's, you don't need a driving license to cross the border. I had a DL with me, but they would never ask for it. But then they all recognized us. The world were much safer then. The only terror act was the hijacking the plane, nothing else. 911 has changed everything. It is my observations and also echoed by my Canadian friends that it is always easier to get into Canada for Americans than Canadians get into the States. I always feel it is so unfair. Oh yeah, I love Montreal and Quebec City more than I like Toronto.

So like anyone want to suggest some things to do while I am there instead of talking about entry?

I thought you had family in the Detroit area that you would be near enough to go see.

This is particular true when a foreign vessel entering into U.S. water. That is why so many Europe vessels are just by passing US to other friendly countries. Because our government is so unfriendly to other country, other countries start retaliate its citizens, like Basil. We need to go through hell to enter into their country/water....Hahaaa.
