The End Of The Lytro Camera
I just got a message from Groupon with details on greatly reduced prices for the Lytro camera. Instead of the suggested price of $599.99 it's now available for $79.99. Is this the end of the line for this camera. https://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-lytro- … 0_20150824 Aug 24 15 10:57 am Link They are putting the old models on clearance. Aug 24 15 11:24 am Link Yep. Lytro's not going out of business, just clearing out an old model. Aug 24 15 07:14 pm Link i should buy one, i've always wanted to try it out. the lack of RAW and requirement of special software is what killed the appeal for me. And there was a huge improvement between ver 1 & 2. As a new sensor technology I'd say it is faring better/being more successful than foveon was. And it hurts me to say that because I really like foveon sensors. I don't see Lytros replacing traditional cameras anytime soon, but I can see them leading yo changes in image processing and even being utilized as part of a two-sensor camera system.
