With lighting examples please. Meaning lighting setup (explained in detail, light placement, settings etc..) and the final headshot if you would not mind. This is a teaching tool for others so the more assistance for newbs the better! I have used these threads in the past to help my self but also other users, so I appreciate everything you all share.

Intermediate and advanced are welcome, but prefer something simple (newb) for a nice headshot for male and female.

Thanks in advance!

We can do youtube links all day long. What we are looking for are examples not on there and also physical examples of the images. Along with the photographer explaining what he/she did. Youtube has some good stuff but is limited hence why this post exists.

Big window, 6x6 foot white v-flat opposite, model in the middle, probably f/5.6. Simple.

You didn't say strobes.

Homemade rig - not sure if you'd consider this 1 or 4 lights/

These are all a one light set up and very, very basic but you can get good results.  I use an off camera flash for my lights it's just a lumapro 160 normally at max power since it's not very bright and I adjust my fstop from there.

24x32 soft box placed in front of the model about 4-5 feet away with it elevated slightly overhead until you can just get the catchlights in the top of her eyes.

22in beauty dish pointed at the top middle corner of my white walls to bounce the light for a soft natural light.  My studio is about 12 feet long so the light is probably about 2ft from the wall and about 6ft from the model.  Again try to get your catch lights in the top corner of the eye.

22in beauty dish directly in front of the model about 4-5 ft away slightly elevated above her

clearly I have a bad habit of always putting the light directly in front of the model for some reason :p

2 light clam shell setup. This could be achieved with one light plus a reflector underneath, but I like the extra control from a separate light. Light up top is a 4 foot brolly box, and at the bottom is a 4 foot strip.

And yet so clean and beautiful... Of course the model doesn't hurt.

(Post before yours) also very nice! Thanks for sharing!

1 softbox, little higher than her head, excactly centered. Backdrop is metal.

1 small softbox from the left, larger softbox from the front of the model. White wall provided enough fill.

Three lights.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/31393439

Shot while leaning out of an old broken window on an abandoned house.

One 36" Moonlight (An antiquated circular softbox.) outside aimed at the window for fill.

One 36" Moonlight high up inside the house by the wall near her on the right to light hair and provide downward nose shadow on left.

One weak speedlight on the wall behind her that had faux blood running down it from some prior horror movie shot there.

She may look cool, but it was a sweltering 103 degrees there that day.  Lots of powder.
