I'm getting ready to upgrade my d700 but wanting the speed/fps the d700 gives. I heard Nikon is coming out with one. The d750 appears to be more like the d610 than the d700. Has anyone heard of a replacement?

I think it was called D800/10.

The D800 and D810 are technically not the successors to the D700. The shutter speed and resolution pretty obviously point to that.

D750 D800 and D810 are the replacement of D700.  If you don't believe it, ask Mr. Nikon.   If you are not happy with his answer, buy a canon, Sony or Fuji X.  tongue

It is all academic, it has no real world application concerns regarding these new Nikon cameras failed to replace the D700.  Of course someone will come up to argue this is not the case.  But what does he know ?  If he knows if he will be running Nikon or his own company.  LOL.

Search the forums for this topic. You'll find about fifty threads each on how the 750 and 800/810 are better than the 700, how the 700 is better, how Nikon hates their customers for never releasing a follow-up model, and 100% "confirmed" rumours about when the new model is supposed to come out, all going back several years.

Ditto for the D300.

There is literally nothing we can add to the conversation that hasn't already been said a thousand times.

This thread is almost as repetitive as a model escort thread.

No, and they wont. They've moved ergonomics from their 700 series.

With no disrespect intended, I have never even understood what your comment means.

The D700 was an oddball camera. Ive heard from a few sourced that Nikon only made the D700 because they were producing far more D3 sensors than they expected -- the chip yield was suppose to be low, but turned out high. Nikon only had the D3 AF and processor for Fx, so the D700 got everything except the D3 pentaprisim, which couldn't be made to fit in a D300 body. The D700 was a pocket battleship.

If you neef the low-light of the D4 in a smaller package, the Df could be your body. The D750 is there with a good frame rate, but if you need the combo of features a D4 offers, you need to buy the D4.

The Df is the closest replacement.  I have both the D700 and the Df.  The D700 is my backup to the Df and absolutely love it.  I don't need video.  My wife and I both shoot the Df and couldn't be happier.

Except that the D700 has a much better auto-focus system.

Except they managed to put a 100% viewfinder into the D300 but not in the D700.  That is why this has always confused me.  The D700 was a great camera, but even for its day, it wasn't a perfect camera.  Nikon has a way of mixing and matching benefits so that everything is always wanting in one way or another.  That, however, is probably reality.  They have to make decisions.

The D810, D750, D600 and DF all take great images in a full frame form factor.  Each has compromises.  The D700 had compromises.  I don't know what a D700 replacement, exactly is.  I do know that what I would like is a D810 with the U1  U2 feature. I picked a D750 instead because that was an important decision making factor for me.  Oh well.  There will always be compromises.

Yes! The product announcements for both the D300 and D700 replacements will occur just in time for you to get one of each for Christmas!

A Nikon D610 or D750 are fine upgrades from the D700. The D810 is not a bad choice either.

I'm kind of curious what the D700 isn't doing for you, as well as the D750, 610, 810, etc.? What is lacking there that has you seeking a yet undetermined camera body?

I shoot with a D800 but I do keep a D700 on backup as it's still a great camera. One person I know has been running a portrait studio here in Vegas and shoots lots of corporate events...she upgraded to a 610 and hated it so much she went back to her D700 and still loves using it as her primary. Even by today's standards, it's still an outstanding camera.

In My opinion, the D700 was and still is, under the right circumstances a great DSLR.  I use D800's every day and often
carry my 700 for available light quick photography.  I also like the 7FPS and AF on the 700's over the 800's.  When it comes
to image quality it is hard to beat the 800's.

I own a D300, D7000 & D750. I am a full time professional and use my D750 as main camera and use my D7000 very often as 2nd body on big jobs. I also use my D300 when on vacation or family functions. I enjoy them all and find they all are capable of producing beautiful images.  I don't believe for a minute that waiting for a new D700 is worth it. Not with so many great options. D4, D810 & D750 are all the camera anyone would ever need.
