He PROMISED big changes to come and he is a man of his word!!! It only took 108 years but it was well worth the wait. Hopefully many more years of winning Cubs baseball to come.... Nov 02 16 10:37 pm Link i honestly thought i'd never see this day, if i lived to be 100 years old. all the misery and heart break i've had to witness since 1969 (a small sample slice, in the overall scheme), and yet, here it is. and what a game! probably not the greatest game 7 ever, but certainly one of the best. what a roller coaster of emotions those last five innings were. as a kid, i sat in wrigley field and watched ernie banks, ron santo, billy williams, fergie jenkins etc play, and always thought they'd find a way to do it. and into the '80s, it was guys like ryne sandberg, bull durham, jody davis, that made me think the same thing. and into the late '80s and early '00s. man, what a ride. this is just awesome. the curse isn't just killed, it's buried in a 12' deep crater. what a win. i've been texting my brother in law, sister and old friends all series during the games, and this whole experience was exhilarating. i thought the rain delay might prove fatal, but it ended up working out. even though i was pulling hair that they left the bases loaded in the top of the 10th. and the bottom of the inning was--at first--a breeze, then it ended up being a nail biter again. oh, man...what a night. Nov 02 16 11:06 pm Link Tip of the cap to the Chicago Cubs from a lifetime Cardinals fan. I thought it was a great series, and the Cleveland Indians were a worthy opponent. I'm glad that the curse is dead, and I'll be looking forward to the Central Division rivalry renewing in the Spring of 2017. Nov 03 16 01:02 am Link WOW!! What a game! Coulda gone either way! I'm sure Harry is sitting on a cloud up in heaven having an ice cold Bud to celebrate... Nov 03 16 03:35 am Link ?? Why pull a starter who is doing great? Especially when the relievers are not as good and are tired? Was the Cubs Mgr. stoned or hypoxic? What was he thinking? Much criticized as "idiotic," and darned near cost them the game.
