Thanks for your help Gibson! I can see the images on your document just fine (usually impossible due to a Flickr block in this country) but for future reference here's a quick way if you ever want to do a PDF: with the thread open, go to File > Print > then select the page numbers required and instead of the default printer location, scroll & select 'Adobe PDF'.   Voilla..

Thanks again.

I've missed the pdf's for 15 through to 25.  Whereabouts can I find them.

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm. OK. Well CutePDF works, but not well. Many of the diagrams don't show up correctly.

Edit. Maybe it does... Let me work on this.

OK. Try this: www.gibsonphotoart.com/download/MM/MM-L … -26-30.zip

This was a dark corridor in an old cotton mill. The ceiling was about 15' with small emergency type lights on it, so I don't think the affected the shot.

The model, Michelle Monroe, was stood in front of an open doorway which was dircetly adjacent to a huge window letting in tons of natural light. Also there was a small strobe on very low power with a blue gel on it, pointing to the models left, with a set of barn doors on. This was positioned just inside the doorway at a low level. This was to try and accentuate her body scape/shape/contours.

Looks to me like a single strobe with a tight spread. Either a grid or speedlight behind and to the left of the model. Actually a rather easy shot.

well, thanks for making me feel like a dolt.....I was interested in a diagram.  I have been trying to do this type of shot for a while, but i always seem to end up with a very noisy photo, or with the light spilling out too much.

I wanted to see a diagram so that i could see if i'm setting the lights and camera settings up right.

No need to feel like a dolt.....I don't get noise when I've tried these sort of shots....I just get light spilling everywhere !!
I'd also be really interested if someone could post a shot like this with their setup diagram !!

It is similar to a shoot I did

https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pic … =51603&ua=

Which was in a white room, so I hung curtains from the ceiling to eliminate bounce from flash.
I shot against a black background, with a black curtain hanging to the left.  I shot through a white curtain to control as much as I could of the light coming it, it also softened the light, and eliminated the hot spots on her body.  So, essentially created a huge huge softbox.

Ok I got a question for you people. I have only 2 lights. I have a beauty dish and grid, 20 degree grid and umbrellas, a soft box with grid, soft box strip box , round filter , and strip modifier for it. Do you have any suggestions for a new set up I might be able to use  with all the following equipment?

I KNOW this is not a critique thread. You should add a reflector to bounce light on the back of the head. It will separate you from the background. AWESOME results with the 6mp cam though.

A new photo shot I did with model Alex. Still trying to master the one light setup. Used one Novatron 240 strobe with the butterfly lighting setup.

Hey Jason. Thanks for the feedback. For the moment I am just focusing on lighting with only one light. Haven't even added a reflector or bounce card. After I feel I got the one light & reflectors I'll start adding an additional light. Almost there.
