There are a lot of good threads here, and a lot of bad ones. This thread is an attempt to catalog and organize the best so the good material is easily accessible.

The actual list thread will be locked to prevent chatter from obscuring the information it contains. The edited list is at the top of the Photography section of the forum.

I need your help in identifying threads on relevant subjects.

To suggest a thread be included, or that a new topic be added to the list, post to the suggestion thread (here) with its URL and title.

I don't think you want too many folders. 5 or 6 somewhat broad topics to cover the range plus a miscellaneous for the occasional out-of-category but useful or thought-provoking thread.

Possibly something like:

1) Studio/Lighting/Locations
2) Gear/Equipment
3) The Industry
4) Copyright/Usage/Legal
5) Digital Workflow/Photoshop
6) Film
7) Miscellaneous

Suggestions for best sources of seamless, fabric/canvas backgrounds, other set props, etc.
Maybe it's just studio related stuff that might fit under a different catagory and not be worth being on it's own.

Write it. If it's good, it'll go on the list. This is to be a catalog of existing material.

Find the good threads and I'll find a place for them. Don't get bogged down in the structure of the list.

I.E., just look for the threads with meat, we'll cook it later.

Can you sticky your other thread to the top? That would be helpful and useful.

Yeah. I noted in the list thread that once the list is a little more developed I'll ask Tyler to make it stick to the top. Let's get it rolling first.

Studio resource threads:

East Coast
https://www.modelmayhem.com/p.php?thread_id=49827

I did a quick search but nothing jumped out as a resource thread for West Coast, Midwest, Canada, International... but if things change with forum-specific mods this is the kind of thing that could be done where someone goes through all the studio rental threads and condenses the information by region.

Hi Ched,

I think that the Picture of the Day competition is an important resource for gauging one's skill, inspiration, and motivation.  The Picture of the Day is now sticky'ed to the top of the General Mayhem forum and found here:

https://www.modelmayhem.com/p.php?thread_id=213509

Thanks for putting together this important resource.

Take care,

I don't have a particular thread to suggest but just a thought that we could come up with some sort of layman's translation of various contracts, Terms of Service, releases and the like. We keep having threads that have good information about them, but the reality is that people in general need to be educated themselves.  A sort of "Legal-ese 101" as it were.  We might help to cut down on the Urban Myth Syndrome with respect to creative interpretations of contractual documents.
