I was wondering what the people who choose not to pose nude's reasons were?

I for one am really curious about the girls who choose not to pose at all. Y'know, for like... an actual photo shoot.

I just don't feel like it.
Must I have a poignant and/or philosophical reason behind it?

True enough, although I've come to like those photo sessions that go for the scheduled length without the model suddenly realizing they have pressing and immediate obligations elsewhere.

We as photographers have to attack every illogical reason behind not posing nude.. if you don't give us a reason, we cannot help convince you that you are wrong and should pose nude, DUH!

Before I did nudes, my reasons were:
1. I was simply nervous about it
2. I had a bf that wasn't comfortable with me doing it
3. I had a massage license at the time and I felt it was best that I didn't do any [that, and it was kinda against the rules]

But now I'm single [sigh], my license is up and I'm not renewing it, and I've got over being nervous.

It varies greatly upon each person. Sometimes it's rules, sometimes they just don't want to, or both.

I've told plenty of models to not give reasons beyond "I don't want to."  If you start explaining, people can dispute the reasons, but if you just own your choice, they don't have much to go on.

Honestly, while I'm happy to shoot "first time nude" models; I don't get the appeal of shooting someone, nude or otherwise, who doesn't want to be doing what they are.

Worried about their friends may find out that you are into nude?

You don't want the GWC(s) to see what your body looks like?  (I suspect that is the reason).

Precisely the reason for my thick, overly sarcastic statement.
My avatar that I shot not to long ago was making excuse after excuse after excuse why she didn't want to pose nude (I wasn't trying to convince her, she just knew I had nudes in my portfolio).

I just stopped her and said... "You know what, I don't care what your reasons are, as I'm not asking you to pose nude... it's a non-nude concept which is why we are working together."

Later in that conversation I just simply said "It doesn't matter what your reasons are, as it's none of my business... all you need to say is 'I don't want to'."

Done and Done. smile

I said this is the other thread last week. It's the best way I can put it.

I might be a bit "cocky." But I think someone has to be pretty damn special to be lucky enough to see me naked. That's literally how I see it. I like having control over who sees me naked. I don't want just any creep to get to see me.

I won't do it for Vogue or any publication no matter how popular or respected and I wouldn't do it for a billion dollars either. Money doesn't mean THAT much to me. There is NO amount of money to get me naked. I'm not up for sale.
I do not put others down for being willing to do nudes, nor do I ever wonder why they choose to do nude modeling. Not sure why it is such a question as to why some of us don't.

That's all I've got to say about that, lol. big_smile

j/k. your original post is fine.. can't argue to much with that except you might get one jerk that says "Meh, you aren't THAT special.

I agree that I don't know why this is such a hot topic that pops up every now and again... It doesn't matter if the excuse is that Martians will invade the Earth if said model is seen in the nude publicly... I might think she is 'coocoo'.. but that is her reason and I will move the the hundreds of other models that WILL pose nude.

lol but you are a "non theistic whore" that doesn't pose nude big_smile (not a bad thing, just stating that religion is mostly the reason why models around out here don't pose nudes... that is IF they don't pose nude).

If a guy ever said that I'd laugh at him and say okay, you asked so I must be.
Guys like that make my day, they get nasty for not getting what they want, lol.

All kidding aside, that really is my reason. I don't think I'm "SO" special. But the guy has to be. I've seen some of the guys who drool over nude images. I've read/heard some of their comments. There's no way I would want any of those creeps seeing me naked. Of course there are some great guys who read Playboy and the like. But they don't make up all of the guys who do. I like choosing who sees me smile

I love the martians excuse. Now that you've said it, just wait and see someone will end up using it for something. Either not doing nudes or flaking, lol.

I think most reasons are kind of easy to think of. Some just don't want to, some share my reason, for some it's religion, work, family, etc. Like you said, there are hundreds of others who will pose nude.

Do you know how much is a billion dollars?

And you got that right, You not that special.

smile

Realistically, naked for someone special to you. So if there is someone that is very special to you and wants you to pose nude for someone else in exchange of monetary compensation. You and him (or her) probably would do it for a small portion of that one $billion dollars.

Never say never.

NEVER. Not everybody has a price, you might but not everybody is you.
If someone wanted me to pose nude, then they aren't a special person to me.
Sorry, you can pick apart any wording you want. Not everybody would pose nude. I wouldn't.

I'm with ya there.
Some people can only feel good about themselves when they refuse to expose themselves to any kind of criticism from others.  Like, "If I only look in the mirror at myself, I can convince myself that I am something I may not actually be. If I let someone else judge me, I may get the harsh truth".
You see it all the time, exspecially on Facebook and MySpace

Nude or clothed - it's a personal choice.  It's not right and it's not wrong.. simply a matter of choice by the model.

I don't do nudes - my choice.  I have my reasons and whether someone likes those reasons or not, it's their problem not mine.

Most people find it surprising that one of my reasons is that I'm a minister (now) and I'm trying to raise funds to build/start my ministry to help disadvantaged children.  I doubt some of my staunch supporters would appreciate it (esp. considering that I live the Bible Belt of ubber conservative (often narrow minded) business people).

plus I'm not comfortable being naked ... or even in a bikini...LOL

This is good advice in general.  In Human Resources, when we reject a C.V., our company policy states we do not give a reason why we reject so that the candidate cannot start an argument about our reasons.

Yeah, but the subject of nudity brings out the mentally challenged.  Do you know there are thousands of people in America who actually took their children to counseling over Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction?  And let's not forget the "honorable" Mr. Ashcroft and his fear of the symbology of justice.

I truly don't care what someone's reason is for not posing nude.  It's their choice to make, some people have good reasons, and they don't owe me an explanation.  That said, if they choose to offer an explanation and start spouting irrational and/or hypocritical BS, I'm not obligated to pretend I'm buying it.
