Sep 17 08 01:50 am Link This reminded me of the Seinfeld episode for the Mentor / protégé plot :-) : VOICE: Our next speaker is George Costanza on the subject of risk management. (George steps up and opens his folder.) GEORGE: Ovaltine. Have you ever had this stuff? Why is it called Ovaltine? (George flips through a few pages.) GEORGE: They should call it round tine. You know what I'm talking about. WILHELM: (proudly, to the man seated beside him): He's my protégé. Sep 17 08 05:44 am Link Morna Maeve wrote: You most certainly are! Welcome to the list. And I'm not exactly a newbie, although I work with them all the time. However, other than not being a model myself these days, I do feel as though I have something to offer as a mentor. Let me know . . . . Sep 18 08 02:40 pm Link Peter, TXPhotog would be a great asset to the Mentor program. Thereâs nothing like getting sound logical advice from the other side of the camera⦠not to mention the sound legal knowledge that TX possesses specifically in the Copyright end of things Sep 18 08 06:23 pm Link JoJo Suicide wrote: Hi JoJo Sep 20 08 05:14 pm Link Peter Buckley-Saxon wrote: Well, considering we already have Phillipe on the list, I don't see the harm in adding Roger. He knows his stuff and would make an excellent addition to the list. Sep 20 08 07:33 pm Link Peter Buckley-Saxon wrote: What does "pushed aside" mean? Really, I don't understand that comment. Is there some sort of concern that in the marketplace of (free) mentoring, photographers might get some of the attention that models would otherwise get? Peter Buckley-Saxon wrote: No, there isn't. I am posting here a weekly updated list of "Top Drawer" approved pro-semi pro photographers who have agreed to dedicate at least one day each month to indiscriminately help newbie models in their regions develop their portfolios. As I mentioned in PM to you, I am NOT offering to do that. Mentor, yes. Develop portfolios, no. My profile says I don't do that, and I mean it. Sep 20 08 08:02 pm Link I would like to sincerely thank TXPhotog, JoJo Suicide & Miss FiFi-Alexis for their input. Firstly I would like to state that, on taking over this thread, there were a good number of Mentors already on the list, prior to my involvement, and I did not realise that we already had a photographer (Philipe) on the list. As such, there is obviously now no reason to consider this matter, as it already has been decided. We will add ANYONE to the list who is willing to mentor, and fulfils the criteria. The only change that we are going to make that may be beneficial, is to denote the status of the Mentor (e.g. Model, Photographer, etc). This will be done over the next few days. So finally, welcome TXPhotog to the list. I will add you details shortly. Peter Sep 21 08 05:40 am Link I would like to be considered as a mentor for new models please. I've posted about the no show problem more than once. A reference? I can only think of one, if he remembers me after all these years. GaryR Sep 21 08 07:46 am Link i would like to help.. ive always loved helping newbies... but i live so far right now, but can i be on the list, still? (im from cali) i can help online... only few MM members from the philippines Sep 21 08 10:19 am Link As I often work with Newbie models and find that I mentor them anyway, I would be happy to offer my help. At this point I feel I have more to offer Models than I do young photographers. I have just moved to the northwest. I am living in Vancouver BC, but will be working also in Seattle, Portland and California, when possible. Sep 21 08 03:03 pm Link Hi, I am available to help new models break into modeling and critique their portfolios through this program. As many of you know, I am extremely active with this site. I'm well connected with many of Model Mayhem's top photographers (in part through the site's Picture of the Day and Picture of the Day - Original Edition competitions, which I host) and work with many new models. Simply let me know what I can do to help. Take care, T. R. Willmitch Host, Model Mayhem's Picture of the Day competitions Sep 21 08 03:18 pm Link Thanks everyone for the Mentoring offers. I will get back to you all as soon as I can. Peter Sep 21 08 04:01 pm Link |
