Baltimore Area Summer Funk Meet & Greet... Part Deux
the Avalon area of Patapsco State Park in Baltimore County...
HERE WE GO AGAIN!  ;-)

WOOOT!!! Another successful blast... Thank you to all who attended and made it all so much fun!

It was almost twice as large as last year's and next year will be even more EPIC!

=============================================

Date: June 28, 2009
Time: 10am-ish until Dusk (after parties and pub crawls could occur afterwards).

Address: 5250 South St. Halethorpe, MD 21227

Cost: $15-ish donation to help with food and pavillion, etc...

Just like before, will have a large Pavillion as a home base and lots of woods, streams, waterfalls, stone structures, etc. if you want to shoot...

Map: Pavillion #66... - Ask at the gate for the free map of the area... that one will show parking pads...

Here's a rough map of our area...

Directions:

From the Beltway (I-695) Take Rt. 1 (Exit 12-A) toward Elkridge. Follow Rt. 1 South about 3 miles to South St. Turn
right. Park entrance is on the left.

From I -95 take I-195 to Rt. 1 (Exit 3) toward Elkridge to South St. Turn right. Park entrance is on the left.

From Howard County follow Rt. 1 through Elkridge and into Baltimore County. Turn left onto South St. Park entrance
is on the left.

   ---------------------

We are asking everyone to bring what they would like to drink and maybe some sort of desert or their favorite side dish... the plan is to have some meat and corn on the cob and such to grill up... if you have some preferences, post them. PLEASE, NO GLASSWARE!!! (ok, other than lenses ;-)

The day will most likely be loosely organized into blocks for meeting/greeting and shooting, etc. There will be a group shot scheduled for early afternoon.

Here's the initial plan (read desparate stab at an idea to organize the day):

10 - 10:30am   Greet and Morning hang-out
10:30 -12:30am   morning shoot session (maybe catch some morning sun)
12:30 - 2pm   eat, drink, hang out some more and meet more folks...
2 - 3:30pm   afternoon shoot session (different combinations of people please)
3:30 - 4pm   GROUP SHOT!!!
4 - 5:30pm   eat, drink, hang out some more and meet even more cool people... maybe talk about lighting etc.
5:30 - 7pm evening shoot session (again, different combo of participants.
7pm - dusk farewell and clean-up...

After party/bar scene???

Let me know what you guys think...

Think about themes for a shootout... suggestions are welcome but may or may not be used.

If you can pull off the group photo you will be the most successful event organizer of all time....

Do you have a paypal address we could use to prepay? That makes getting the food a lot easier.

I made two resolutions this year; to go to fewer M&G's, and to quote more Spinal Tap.

Obviously, Ive broken my first resolution, but it's ok, cause there's nothing wrong with sexy.

CRISIS: all the pavillions for that day - june 27 - are taken...

The guy I talked to the other day told me the pavillion I wanted was still available... I just found out it has been reserved for a long time... Nothing else is available for that day...

The next day, June 28th,there are still several open pavs including the one we want... For now...

Would you all be ok with the change in date????

I need to know right away!

Sorry for the confusion.

Are we doing it the same as last year? Where the fee is covering the pavilion cost and very basic grill essentials (charcoal, some cow, plates, etc)?  Are we encouraged to bring salads, drinks, weird vegetarian food, etc?

That IS the plan... bring favorite drink, desert, maybe an odd side dish, etc.

Jimmy C of Luminous Impressions brought up an idea that sounded kind of cool...

as all of us image whores like to collect props, waredrobe, gizmos and do-dads to use in our shoots, we often end up with these things clogging up our space after we get sick of shooting them. Jimmy's idea is to have, as part of the M&G, a swap meet to trade and/or sell our stuff and get new stuff......

any thoughts on whether we want to do this and/or how it should be done?
