I'm very interested in these lights, also very confused as to what their true output will be.

Can someone put it in practical terms for me.. for example would it have more or less output than an AB800, both at full power?  And am I reading that right, the flash duration at full power would be approx 1/600?

The real problem is that Watt-Seconds is not a measure of light output.  it is a measure of input power.

All other things being equal, double the watt seconds and your double the light.  Unfortunately when comparing different brands of light, all other things are never equal.

What we care about is the light output.  Light output is a function of watt-seconds, efficiency, reflectors and other modifiers.

Yup .. something I mentioned back when this thread originally ran:  https://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thre … st12660028

It's almost as useless as saying how far a car will travel based solely on the capacity of its gas tank.

The output at full is the same as an AB1600, or 1 stop more than the AB800, the t.5 flash duration is 1/1600 sec. The flash duration gets shorter as power decreases.

That would be more than adequate to light some small gyms for sports then, 1/1600 is excellent to stop action.. any idea of the recycle time at t.5?

This question makes no sense.  Recycle time is a function of several variables, but flash duration is not one of them.  Also, forget t.5 times.  If you are looking to stop action, then t.1 is the rating that you care about:

i am waiting for Tesla to come out with his own light kit...

wireless battery packs and remote triggers that work from up to 12 miles..also invisible soft boxes.. you can shoot thru them and they emit light....

And they come with an electric sports car and a device for copying yourself. Gets messy cleaning up the extra you(s) though when you don't need to be in more than one place at once.
