Nope, I won't do it!! I even had a mom ask me and willing to pay me to shoot her 16 year old daughter nude.

I would rather be eating steak then bread and water! SORRY!

Last year I had a girl contact my other port here (all nudes) I looked over her page and refereed her to this port... She was supposedly coming to visit family in NY and wanted to shoot. I was interested in working with her and she did look young so I told her I would not shoot her without seeing ID or a parent present.

She went on to assure me that she was indeed 18 and would have her ID to prove it. Then the conversation started to get odd... She started saying how she was going to be meeting me in her favorite thong and really wanted to shoot nudes...

The time came and went and never heard back from her and her port has been deleted from here.

A few weeks ago on OMP I noticed a model from SC visiting my profile (you can see that on there) I clicked on the profile and it was the same girl (or person using her pictures) except this time the age was listed as 16... For kicks I sent a message saying thanks for visiting my port. A few days later I got a response from a man who said he was her father saying they'd be coming to NY and would be interested in shooting. I sent a message back explaining my first encounter with someone using her pictures and have since heard nothing back...

I think she was a setup... I still think she is... I'm sure there's another port here bearing her pictures... She contacted a few other photographers in my area also...

Two Words: Sally Mann.
Patently non-erotic photos, but the stir that they caused! I don't have the artistic chops to take on that mess, especially as a male photographer! Too much other beauty in the world to explore.

I don't see what the problem is. If people who dig coal, ore, or gems for a living want a few nude pictures, what is the harm?

John, I'd lean way more towards the "other photographer" trying to get dirt on  you than some kind of elaborate sting.

Perhaps even someone from MM trying to get dirt, I've had people I pissed off on here try and cause problems in my "real" world.

Of course it's law enforcement, at least the majority of such requests. Several years ago I began receiving those requests, sometimes two or three per month, for a good two years. They were supposedly from young women ranging in age from fourteen to sixteen. Then one day a good four years it was like someone flipped a switch and I never received another. Apparently I passed a test, or a series of tests. I  received them so often that  had a cut and paste reply which I always used, telling them they were too young and to have their parents contact me about conventional modeling.

No it is not illegal to photograph minors in the nude in this country. Of course that answer means you are willing to have your name and photo on the front page of your local newspaper and on
TV calling you am "alleged" child pornographer and to drop $50,000 to $100,000 in legal fees. In a year or two, after you cleared your name, other than a handful of supporters on MM, who would either know or care. As far as the world was concerned, you would simply be a child pornographer who beat the rap.

Why in the world does any 16 year old know how to contact you on IM?  Easy thing to block them.

when shooting nude minors remember two things

1) It's not illegal.
2) the photos MUST not be sexual in nature.

I learned this when I had a nudist family ask me to take photos of them and said "their daughter feels more comfortable with a male photographer."

Context plays a very big role in photos. keep them tasteful within everyones comfort zone. If you don't feel comfortable doing the photos tell them so and hope that they can move on.

Just tell her that you will be happy to shoot with her as long as parents sign a release form and are present during the shoot, but even with parents permission is a thin line between becoming a perv and pedhofile, becareful..

it happened to me 4 years ago - a 16 1/2 year old girl wanted to learn photography from me and also pose nude for me. She said the nude shoot will "be our secret" - I told her NO!!!!! I won't shoot a minor nude even if I did have parental permission and if she wanted me to shoot her nude to come back when she is 18. 1 1/2 years later, I heard from her, she just turned 18 and wanted to shoot nudes. I did shoot her then.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was law enforcement trying to trap you but more than likely, it was probably someone trying to get dirt on you.

Shooting minors nude isn't inherently illegal, so I really doubt it would be law enforcement; maybe other photographers (wouldn't have been my first thought, but I don't know your market).

While you are right that it is not illegal to shoot nudes of a minor (as long as it isn't sexual or even sensual), law enforcement does take a dim view on it. It's a "smoking gun" to them and you can get hassled, it really isn't worth it.

Since you are 17, I feel i can't say how I would love to shot nudes of you but when you are 18, I will say it smile

She finally got the hint that I wasnt interested and havent heard from her in several months now

It could well be law enforcement. Many agencies are constantly running sting operations. Or entrapment, depending on the details and your interpretation of the law. Years ago, before the Internet, the Postal Service was the biggest producer or child porn in the country. When the Service wanted to "get" someone, they would send him a sales pitch for adult porn. But they would then deliver child porn and arrest him when he signed for the sealed plain wrapper package that he thought was legal stuff.

Seems like the easiest thing to do with such requests as the OP indicates, would be to have a form letter response.

It's happened to me, and it ended about the third time I said "I have to talk to your parents before we discuss this anymore; here's my phone number..."

I also had a 16 year old start to take her clothes off during a shoot. She finally put them back on when I started packing my equipment and said that's the end of the shoot. When I told her mother why the shoot was cut short (she had stepped out), she shrugged her shoulders.

I had a similar case where something just didn't seem right about the way "she" communicated on IM with me.  "she" wanted to pose nude and claimed to be over 18, but I trusted my instinct and blocked that person.

I get approached for nude shoots frequently. My stock response that I don't do nude shoots of minors along with ID requirements are normally sufficient to send them packing.

I suppose some of these requests could be a sting - either official or a want to be official. Sorry to disappoint. I've never had the impression that another photographer would waste their time trying to string another - Statistics indicate there must be some.

Sorry if you're a target John.

I certainly know that if I, as an underage model myself, ever wanted to do a nude shoot, I'd make sure my mother and father were well in contact with the photographer who would be taking the shoots, for safety reasons.

If the model doesn't not want to comply, it is possible someone is trying to dig up dug on you as a photographer, and I wouldn't even doubt it.

Also, is it illegal for a minor photographer to photograph nudes of non-minors?

No, it is not illegal for a minor photographer to shoot nudes of a non-minor nude.

On the other hand, depending on what you were shooting, i.e. how sexually explicit it was, it could well be illegal for the model to pose for the photographer.

Interesting quagmire, huh?

I've had a few underage models/ girls contact me wanting to do nude photography, I see nothing wrong with natural "clean" nude shots of minors, but when I tell them I would need a parent or legal guardian to be there and also sign a minor's model release, they say oooh my mom or dad would not do that !...........FLAG.......well come back when you are 18 or legal age and you sign the release.

I've had this about three times. It's very pushy and very obvious.

I track emails, etc., and make screen prints.

I'm very careful to say no, and to say why.

Everytime it happens, it seems like a scripted approach ... underage, pushing hard, asking for sexy, porno kind of respons, but in an indirect way like they are trying to make me solicit them.

I also got a feeling it's not official police investigators.

It seems more amature than that, like maybe it's some vigilante white knights who want to protect children from Internet predators.

There is a quality of presentation that's very loaded, and thick-headed.

Yes, it's always by IM. No connection to MM, myspace, facebook or any other typical social networking sites.

It's always anonymous. A google search for the name or email leads nowhere.

They push me to talk sexy or proposition them, or to offer them a porno shoot or just some kind of nasty situation.

They talk like a dirty phone call, but don't say things exactly or directly ... pushing me to fill in the blanks.

It seems more about sex than about a normal photo shoot.

The way they talk, leads me to believe they are not models, and not photographers.

Their agenda is clear but vague.

When I turn the tables and ask them pointed questions that require detailed answers, they are not prepared with believable answers and they try to get back on the track of prosecuting me.
