I don't know about PV but I live in Cabo. It is purty calm here as far as anyone trying to kidnap people.. I would keep a good hold on you'r camera thoe.. But that is advised anywhere you go! As for the girls the worst is you will hear local men whistle at you and scream how hot you are ;-D

Hey Heavenly... just for the record... this 'Cruiseboat Photoshoot' event was held 9 months ago.  There are however HUNDREDS of amazing photos available to preview on this thread that were taken at a few of the same locations we'll be using at the next 'Cruiseboat Photoshoot' on Oct 13th of 2013.  Here's a link to that 6 day event... to be hosted on a much newer cruiseship... borat

Dear Mellissa:
Nor should it take an entire year.
Have you received all the images yet?
If not, do you know who to dunn?
Do you have a collection agency? :-)

I'm on IM on FB with another model I know well and she reports that she has written on off some delinquent togs.

GARY, is the attendance lower this year because of economy, fuel prices, or did you ban those who didn't do their post production and get images to the models yet? LOL.

-----
On topic this topic but separate from this shoot, I just did a humdinger of a fairly complicated shoot involving models in the double digits, only 5 models made it to the grand piano, a Homage a la Herb Ritts reprise. Total of 19 on closed set. Yani's "9 in nothing" in Mexico inspired me to try "9 in nothing on a 9' grand." But recruiting 9 real models without lowering standards, with my budget was...not feasible.

For one segment of the shoot, we intentionally and literally dropped an upright from about three stories to smash it to smithereens and put a bloodied and bruised model under the debris for a shot titled "Killer Piano!"

No matter how I run the optimization matrix, I can't achieve my dual goals of SPEED *and* QUALITY with the available talent and tools that I have.

PROCEDURAL MODIFICATION: So I'm implement a modification to the production process and inserted a time consuming step--an INTERIM RELEASE. This is quick and dirty. So we can see results "immediately"--within a week. In this case, I'm going to give myself months to muck with the images, fiddle faddle, write notes, consult with experts, submit for peer review, etc. ad nauseam. The final archival quality work is intended for MFA committee, digital archivist, and future anthropologists who will study our era!

Me thinks we're supposed to tune into the telepathic channel. [As you know, I use it a lot since my mondo words and few images fail to communicate the complexities and nuances my neural pathways conjure up!] ;-)

Dear Mellissa,
You're one of the nicest people I know.
I mean that sincerely.
So I take your viewpoint seriously!
I'm just trying to analyze and assess why it takes so long for photographers as a group, and sometimes me personally/professionally, to produce images expeditiously.

The litany is long.
Even if we leave life and the human foibles that we have to deal with the technical aspects can be challenging.

Let me start part of the litany, LOL.
* I've had drives fail more than once.
Attempt to replace them but the store sold the wrong drives.
Returned drives. Correct ones may not be in stock.
Cables--odd angles. Don't want to break anything so wait for qualified tech.

* Recently MacBook DVD drive gave error.
Idiosyncratic--don't know what caused it. Online no help.
Without really changing anything -- works now.
Two days shot.

* Power cable came loose during download.

* Perfectionism. Some people don't want to leave well enough alone.

OK. I need to go back to doing post production and not writing about it BUT one last jab,
* Trying to document the process using TigerText but the [expletive deleted] software has removed the "Forever" option and so I took time out of the post production process to file a written complaint with the company. AND

* Now I have to figure out another method to do documentation. Would like it to be HIPAA compliant.  [Perfectionistic personal preference. :-)] Finding another tool that is HIPAA compliant, has equivalent EOU, then learning that tool takes time and may take money.

To be continued...[but who knows when]

Thanks for taking our call today about her trip tomorrow to LAX and the Nov 2 cruise.

As you know, I'm nominating someone with whom I have worked a few times with and am impressed with her show-up-ability! [just made that up].

Ditto! :-(

Unlike when I called that tog an idiot for not coming on the Cabo cruise, this is not a joke. This is a "formal" COMPLAINT!

Exec summary: no meeting meant we didn't know the caliber of the personnel we had on board to our operational detriment! This is not merely a legitimate personal gripe but one that affects our ability to achieve the prime directive.

Gary: You wrote that you were going to read us the riot act on the ship and have an introductory meeting.

I did my homework before the trip but I am seriously attempting to go paperless for environmental, weight, space and privacy reasons, so I did not print profiles. My budget for Internet was zero. My ability to function was not eviscerated nor fully emasculated but my effectiveness was severely hampered by your failure to have that initial get- acquainted meeting with name tags!

You are our designated leader. I know you state that you've lost your mind three (3) years ago. That I don't dispute. That's why we have checklists. You brought a heavy and an assistant. You should delegate to them PRN (as needed) to keep you on track.

Please get name tags now. You have a year this time!
Have at least one other person bring name tags to back you up.

You "snuck" this beauty on and off the ship without telling us who she was (I know this complaint could apply to many others but I'm using this particular one as a prime example). She's not in the Witness Protection Program, is she? :-)

"Key targets can be identified by actions and mannerisms, positions within the formation, rank or insignias, or equipment being work and carried...Key targets are prioritized based on their tactical value..." "To Be A Military Sniper" by Gregory Mast and Halberstadt, 2007, p. 74.

I'm not going to complain about her lack of divaness but she didn't convey that she was important, high value target. In this target-rich environment, I had expected you to tell us who is who--or at least have that initial meeting where we all introduce each other and get read the riot act!

You didn't have to have a meeting. You could have told us that it's a free for all and then I could have adjusted my m.o. accordingly. However, my complaint is that with a one-month retrospective my ability and my colleagues ability to achieve the prime directive was significantly mitigated by our inability to IFF (Identify Friend or "Foe") because you didn't do what you stated you would do.

We are big boys. We can handle a lot. Shoot straight. Tell us like it is. Follow through. I would be OK if you even you had wrote with some wiggle room "We MAY have a meeting the first night." I can deal with uncertainty.

This is not an ad hominem [http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem] attack. This is not personal at all. As far as I know, we all like you, Gary! :-)
This is a professional complaint based on a material discrepancy between written plan and actual with no mitigating factors for non performance. This has affected more than me. I've withheld judgment thinking that it was inconsequential and immaterial. A retrospective analysis indicates that it is not.

So in conclusion, neither of us can change the past but you can learn from the past to refine your technique for the next iteration. So I repeat:
* please obtain adequate name tags now and
* designate a backup or two prior to the shoot
* either have the meeting or have someone else have the meeting OR don't say you'll have a meeting.

Thank you for your kind consideration.
