Bein' "old as dirt" myself, I certainly hope this shocking trend doesn't grow into an epidemic  .  .  .  wink  I have several models that have to help me stand up, and carry my stuff whilst we shoot since I'm so old and feeble  .  .  .  wink  If after seein' the quality of your work, she STILL thought you were too old ta shoot her nekid, then she's also blind  .  .  .  may have worked out for the best  .  .  .  wink  Beautiful work, much continued success, and hope your BDay and show go very well  .  .  .  check with the staff at the "home" you're in and see when "shooting nekid models" is on the schedule  .  .  .  probably right after bingo, or nap time  .  .  .  wink

It is rather un-nerving to realize during a naked (her, not me!) shoot, that you are old enough to be her Grandfather..

But some rather like it like that..

A response like hers surprises you? Remember: this is llama Mayhem. Any resemblance to the real world is purely coincidental.

I would not even worry about it. The quality of your work speaks for itself. As I always say" If you like me you do me a favor, If you don't like me you do me two favors."

No real model writes like that, so in my opinion, it's just another neophyte who doesn't understand the industry. By now (after all these pages) who knows if she's even a model anymore.

Hi Phillip

Your work is amazing and she has clearly lost out on gaining some amazing images for her PF. I don't understand how your age comes into it at all, it's your work that matters and nothing else.

Your age has nothing to do with the work you produce. I kind of know how you feel, I don't get to shoot with many people I want to because I'm underage. It's silly but her loss.

WOAH!!! I just looked at your port and HOLY HELL, how could any model decline shooting with you?!?! I wish I lived closer to you, I'd be begging to take her place. Seriously, the girl must be inbred or something. It's her  freaking loss!

One of the most stupid things I have ever heard, especially considering your obvious talent! Strangely though, I have had something like that happen to me, like you need to be 24 and hot to be a  good photographer!

I suppose it isn't just gwc's who use mm as a dating site!

I find it works the other way, myself - most models seem to think I'm cute and cuddly instead of old and creepy...well that's what they tell me anyway...big_smile

I have noticed that to begin with, some of the 'less experienced' models will sometimes book photographers based on their percieved coolness rather than the quality of the images they produce though...

Then come back to old gits like me a few months later when they realise their port still looks like a bunch of instagrammed shi'ite...

Forget her.  Take comfort in the fact that she'll be your age someday.

Keep on clickin'!  :-)

BTW...checked out your port.  You ROCK dude!

I had a photographer snarkily make a comment to me of my age and all I thought is...." hmmm, she has no clue that age is an equal opportunity event for all..." In my situation I gave it about a half a minute before I realized that my photographer friend was being vicious and must have had her own age issues.

wink Keep shooting and moving on without her!

In the UK, you could really make something of this and reduce her to rubble.

It's a case of anti-social behaviour and age-ism and a person would be within their rights to make a complaint and take action against them.

If the rules allowed it, I would not hesitate to expose this person. It's probably one of the most stupid replies I have ever seen in the business.

I guess I do someone agree with this post...I'm 18 and although I wouldn't feel weird about it I think maybe a lot of my friends would.

I don't know, I'd probably think twice about it too. I haven't looked at the OP's portfolio, so his work isn't a factor.

She'll be naked, she has reason to believe she could be laying in the floor with him on top of her.  Doesn't sound so great. Especially if she's new.

Don't let it rock you mate, she probably never heard of Helmut Newton either.

Definitely her loss, you're a true artistic genius.

She'll be kicking herself when she's finally old enough to realize her poor judgment.

Hello,

I think her reply had nothing to do with your ability to take a photo or your age to be a photorapher that shoots nude but a WHOLE lot to do with what her intention or expectations in doing a nude photo shoot are.

Perhaps that model is not only immature but, was looking to have some other psychological/physical/emotional needs met by having done a nude photo shoot? Who knows but, your age likely spared you an emotionally unstable model attaching herself to you!

Luckily, she self-selected herself out of the picture for you!

edit to add: Oh my GOSH, I didn't realize it was YOU, "the" Phillip Ritchie...gulp, if you even read this!@!
p.p.s. I'd bet she was put up to it by some jealous sweetheart parnter/ photographer who has such photo envy of you he or she can't see straight, (i.e. not realistic reason.)

you give some good input ,
never thought about a model attaching her self to me , but I do understand what you mean ,

She needs to spend the day with Karl Lagerfeld.

And some teenage, coked up, dribbling, fumbling sexually-confused stylist that can't help re-adjusting that bra.

I laugh at everyone calling her an idiot or a moron. IMO those saying that are bigger fools then the model herself. I don't know why she would feel uncomfortable working with an older man. But she did, so if that is her reason so be it. And as someone else pointed out, maybe the picture on his front page freaked her out a bit. Regardless of her reasoning it was her choice. And one she should have the right to make without being called names.
