Im looking to gain more practice in retouching, as well as a little money. But I'm not sure if Im good enough to charge and I was wondering if I someone could look at my example see if I am good enough & or what I can do to improve. Click here Im not saying I have extreme talent in any way, but I was thinking of offering simple retouches, nothing too fancy. Thank you! Jul 08 12 08:10 am Link not yet...practice on some close ups or mood changes...what you have done can easily be done by a photographer which means they will not need you. Jul 10 12 05:03 pm Link Within the realm of basic imagery and simple touchup, I'd definitely say that you have some well-grounded skills. Please keep in mind, however, that the majority of images you would retouch are likely to be extremely high resolution; that being said, your image is decidedly low-res, meaning that when you scale it down all the little imperfections, missed lines, etc. disappear within the resize. This is good and you have a good foundation (and it's not like anybody picked up a tablet one day and became an expert). As a photographer, you'll likely know the trouble areas and where retouch is likely to draw the eye as fake and whatnot. I say go for it, you have a good start and there's always a lot of help on here! Jul 10 12 07:41 pm Link Thanks you two! I really appreciate the feedback and the tips. Those are some issues I will definitely need to keep in mind. Thanks for taking the time to reply Aug 05 12 11:55 am Link Making money from retouch is extremely dificult. You should reach a level which many photographer don't have in order your services to be needed. You have a good start but you should practice on high res photos and avoid blur on skin.
