A photographer said he wanted to do a shoot where I was a sushi human platter, but if I wouldn't do the shoot with him to at least send me photos of the idea because "art is meant to be shared."

there is actually an amazing artist on here who does human sushi platters, I'd have to look up his account though.
Anyways I'd love to do that, when done right it's a truly elegant feat.
But I also have huge respect for sushi art not on nude ladies too.

About half of these ideas are clearly pandering to someone's fetish. Ive been doing this long enough to realize that whatever weird thing you can come up with, that's someones fetish.

Which is fine, but trying to sneak it into a TF shoot is weird.

Public urination.

Coffee table book style, if I remember correctly.  I'm not sure if he got anyone in on the idea, or if the photos actually turned out well/interesting, but I don't personally know if he had the photographic eye to make that work.  Hrmm.

I would TOTALLY be down for Human Sushi Platters.  I have always thought that was a cool idea, since I first heard about it.  Plus, girls that do it for events get paid ridiculously well, man.

Nothing against cross dressers but wearing a cocktail dress and heels to a shoot is just stupid.

Damn you are taking the cake so far! The first one is so flucked up, it pisses me off.  So many creeps on here.
The second one cracks me up with the cocktail dress, just the idea gives me the giggles.  Again not the x dresser but the dress itself!

This may be the best posting I've come across and complete justification for joining MM. Some of those requests are so very, very terrible that they're on the level of "you can't make up shit like this".

I have no problem with fetish porn - Hell, we *all* have fetishes. But I agree, if you're looking to have someone help you get off by modelling or sharing in your fetish, you should be paying them for it. Unless it's one you both share and will enjoy equally.

I just today recieved an inbox from an apparent 'competitive beard grower'.

"I am looking for an alternative model who is happy to shoot some work with me.
In return you will get some unique portfolio work and a step in the right direction towards your career. The pictures will be used in magazines and newspapers to promote me before the beard championships in november"

I looked at his profile which was sketchy, then his portfolio which was just ALOT of self-portrait nudes. He wanted us both nude with me playing with his beard.

Luckily, the photographer friend who first introduced me to MM told me all about a message she recieved that was identical to this! His profile has only been active around 2 months so i'm guessing he has been burned before.
I asked him for details of location and photographer (I wasn't going to do the shoot but i was curious as to wether he would provide such details.), Needless to say, i haven't heard back from him.

Cringe.

I don't think that asking an art nude model so pose nude, and semi nude, on a nice old couch is unreasonable, but I had no idea we were catering to a fetish with it.

By now I'm used to people making comments about the feet on open leg shots, or the armpits on topless portraits. But this one REALLY amused me. Someone invited this (18+) http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8373/8417 … 6e16_o.jpg to a CHAIR FETISH group.

I couldn't get a model out for "fur trimmed winter wear on the beach in SF".  I thought it would be cool...it was winter in CA and it's not like we even had the possibility of snow.  But maybe it was just a bad idea.

Having a completely random person on deviantart send me a message asking me to take pictures of myself looking like I was being kidnapped/beaten/tied up by terrorists. Worse part was he was from Afganastan.... Just a little bit odd...

Having a photographer want to take images of me in black and white while I'm menstarating- the blood being the only color in the image. Uuuuuuh.... no.

Having a "photographer" ask me to do web cam modeling for his private collection: masturbating with a stormtrooper helmet on... O.o WTF!?

Some people must be on drugs or something.

I can go one better than that and say I was contacted by a model with no experience whatsoever who was looking for images for a new website, plus a calendar for 2014 - she wanted commercial usage rights for the images basically - all shot on my premises, all edited by me, etc ... basically the best part of a weeks worth of work for me. In return for all that work I get 3 unused images for my portfolio. If that sounds like a one sided offer you'll like this bit ... she wanted paying nearly £400 for her time in the studio as well as all the images, commercial rights etc etc.

Oddly enough it was an offer I declined.

Not sure if it qualifies because it's kind of a good idea in itself but....

Me:  I want to portray the 7 sins, but I want it to be fun and sexy, not serious or depressing.  So let's not get too literal with this.

Photographer:  Ok, great, I'm into that.  So what if, for 'gluttony' we have you sitting there eating a huge burger while two filthy, obviously hungry kids watch from the doorway?

Uh, that's the exact opposite of 'fun & sexy.'  hmm

Note:  I *know* the 7 sins thing is a total cliche, I'm just doing this for fun so please don't rip my face off for it.  smile  Anything anyone's going to say about the concept....I know.

I had a model contact me for a TF shoot... then implied that she and I could have "fun" after the shoot. I told her to take a long walk off a short pier. I don't work that way.

The irony was I would have shot TF with her, without the offer of post shoot fun. It's not only creepy photographers that give the industry a bad name. There are creepy models as well.

When I was starting out, my vision exceeded my talent.  To most extents, it still does.  An idea is one thing. Execution is another.  Almost all ideas are fabulous if executed well.  Especially cliches.

You can't eat "exposure."

i get this pitch on a regular basis (well, not so much anymore) in regards to shooting for "exposure."

many photographers (and others) would certainly agree with you that you can't eat exposure... still, people will try anything to get something for nothing.

This thread has been an absolute education in itself.

My worst experience has been -

"I need a complete catalog of pictures shot for my boutique with multiple models and really awesome sets. I don't have a budget but if you can get this done with model friends of yours, I'll make sure I'll get you guys on the next paid project for me. Can we get a few risque shots as well, to get a better spread for the magazines?" .. Would you like some ice cream with that? By no means unique, but thankfully that's as bad as it gets for me.

Not counting the commercial projects for free crap, my favorite "exposure" like was a photographer who told models he'd get them "International exposure by putting you on my FB fan page."  I guess that it's technically probably true, but . . .

the question is more tricky than it seems and hides one dimension -- time.

by no means I pitch my own experience, of course, but after reading many art books and biographies one may come to conclusion that some people realize the real value of idea(s) at the very end of lifetime...

Some people must be on drugs or something.

This is the CraigsList culture where everybody always thinks you'll do whatever they want because, hey, it'll be good for you too. Even if it won't.

Anybody who does a commercial job for free is a sucker who's helping to kill this business.

As is anybody who takes short money to do a commercial job just to get the experience. It just trains those "clients" that they'll always be able to find a some stooge who'll take $150 so they don't have to spend the $1500 the job should cost.

Okay, I've read more of this thread.

I'm embarrassed on behalf of the other "photographers" out there who are A) creepy enough to try this stuff, and B) dumb enough to think it could ever work.

I'm not talking about the unusual/creative/misunderstood -- the cat/band-aid stuff or whatever. Maybe that's brilliant.

They say nothing ventured, nothing gained. But really? The world is full of people who'll do anything for a price. Just pay those people to suck your toes (or whatever) and stop sullying our industry.

I think some people have a "fetish" for shocking women.  The thrill isn't in the act, it's in the response when they make the request.  Nothing else explains some of the crap I hear about.

some of these ideas are good! hahaha

I had people ask me to follow then around with my video camera so they can do a reality type of show of themselves. For free!?! Like I have that kind of time. Even worse they tolled me what they were about. I'm thinking to myself my life is Way more interesting then that and I wouldn't want to bore others with it! How in world do they think people want to follow them? hmm

Geez . . . I've gone through all 8 pages of this and I still find myself floored by some of the ideas people (photogs) come-up with; stuff I would NEVER in my life even consider yet alone desire. However, I did like the idea Snow White, but only to an extent w/o the explicit eroticism. What I would prefer is the look/feel to the Rammstein vid "Sonne" - Dom/Sub vibe and SW ODs on golden crack in a diminutive tub.

At the same time, it does get me concerned for my own "thing" for shooting Annonymous Nudes. Is the "Eyes Wide Shut" theme/genre too cliche now (Venetian Mask, Black Cloak), almost 15 years after-the-fact?"

Just curious as I enjoyed the look/feel Kurbrick pulled-off for that entire portion of the movie.
