Actually I was doing you next. I do indeed like the work and what you have done with the cropping and coloring. However, a photo needs a big initial "pop" to get noticed because there are so many avatars out there. Usually something that is easily definable and vibrant color (red is still the best color to use) and/or big time contrast. Unfortunately, your work lacks those things. Even though the work is fabulous, IMO it lacks for getting my attention as an avatar.
