Hello Shahzaade

Sorry for skipping you and I am glad you came back. I review all the ports against the guidelines I posted on Page 1 of this thread. I see that you that you have not violated any of those guideline, so your port is in pretty good shape. There are no variants, no collages, no cliché themes, and most importantly your port is quite compact.

If I were to recommend removing any image it would be this one. While I love the display of your flexible body, the sneakers look awkward, while your direct stare into the camera under the circumstances seems inappropriate. I propose you re-shoot this pose under better conditions - perhaps outdoors in nature.

I also recommend removing your last image as it is sort of similar to its neighbor. Posting it does not do you much good.

I see several excellent images including this unique image and a great use of the diagonal

Hi Gustavo,
Your work is superb and as a matter of fact I commented on several outstanding images in the past. Having said that, I think your port at over 100 images is too large. Viewers don’t have the time to look at this volume of images, thus will skip most of them and in the process may miss the great ones. People will judge your port by its worst image.

You ought trim down your port to less than 50. I counted at least 10 variant pairs. As a start, I propose you carefully read my guidelines, remove the variants, and then come back for some advice on fine tuning your port and find out which are my favorites smile

Its great to see you back Gabrielle. As they say persistence pays.

I think your port is in a pretty good shape as is your lovely body smile It is compact yet reasonable  diverse in terms of poses and expressions.  I even like your collage even though I preach against collages - see Rule [3] in my original post on Page 1 of this thread. I like it because it is a nice series showing  similar pose dress, lingerie and nude.

I propose deleting this image as I am not fond of your bluh expression. However you do need a portrait or two in your port, so work on replacing this image with another one.

Hello Hannah,

For now I would recommend keeping all your images as for a rookie model, you have posted a healthy mix of expressions, poses and styling. As you expand your port I advise removing images with contrived poses - Rule [2]. A contrived pose is one where it is obvious you are posing for the camera rather than being caught in the act of doing a natural act - such as brushing your hair, taking a walk, putting your stocking on, etc. In your poses and expressions you want to avoid giving a feeling to the viewer that the camera is staring at you. The following two images are contrived as it is obvious you just "stiriked a pose"
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130722/11/51ed793aa2ff4_m.jpg
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130715/09/51e42236420fc_m.jpg

Dont get me wrong - you look beautiful in both of the above images and the photography is good. It just that a professional model (meaning someone who is good enough to make a living purely from modeling) will not pose like this. In your portfolio you want to look like a pro rather than setting yourself apart from a pro.

This one is one of my favorites for your beauty
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130715/09/51e426e3c1943_m.jpg

And this one for your powerful expression and superb photography

Greetings Kurly,

Like I advised to Gabrielle Ann above, keep most of your images in your  por. Itt is in a pretty good shape as is your lovely body  It is compact yet reasonable  diverse in terms of poses and expressions.  There are a few variants violating my  Rule [3] in my original post on Page 1 of this thread. Delete this one as you are already wearing the same dress elsewhere, and your expression here is weak. Furthermore, as I spoke about in my post just above, your expression and pose are contrived.

Same here - same dress, shoes and hair as in other image
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130619/19/51c26515ee7b8_m.jpg

Your red background image has two variants and same expression. Both are slightly contrived - see my comments about contrived poses in the preceeding review of Hannah. Keep them both for now, with the aim of phasing them out as you get more work available for display.

This one is one of my faves for the great light and for providing a great pose to display your gorgeous legs

I also love this portrait for your beauty and connection with the viewer.

Very thoughtful, I really appreciate it.
And yes I agree the sneakers make it awkward, I was planning on deleting it after re-doing it!
Also the last 2 pics in my port are similar, but I liked both of them so much I couldn't choose.
Overall solid advice, thank you smile

I have a really really hard time culling the portfolio  - as you will be able to tell if you have time to visit....

I find that I get attached to images that are not my best technically sometimes -  memories of the shoot, something I like about the model's look in the shot - and I have shots I've "outgrown" technically as well...

while I know this to be true I have a hard time identifying images I should delete and following through -

so again, if you find the time, I would appreciate your input....

Cheers

Hey Gregor,

We all get attached to certain images for various personal reasons. I certainly do, but at the same time I keep reminding myself that the MM port is my public display, and no one understands or cares about my sentimental feelings. They are irrelevant. For this I keep my own personal portfolio on my PC's hard drive.

You have 95 photos posted and you should trim your port by 50%. Your port will be 50% stronger. Which images to get rid of?

Firstly, get rid of your three first rows of variants.  I know what you are doing. You are 'testing' these images. You probably visit the MM greetings page and  monitor which one gets most comments to help you decide which to keep. But I think this is wrong. Decide which one YOU like and post it. If it receives few comments, perhaps you should not post any from that shoot, as most likely they are similar and all weak images.

Here is one example of an image to jettison now.
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130724/11/51f0214371151_m.jpg

Next, remove this image. The expression of this beautiful girl is poor, and worse, her pose is hunched in the chair. There is also lack of concept.
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130521/11/519bbd6a76291_m.jpg

Next, get rid of most of  Katlin Sumners' images. Keep only one or two. Granted, she has a unique look, but remember this is YOUR port, not hers. Rule [6]. Furthermore, her snobbish announcements of "I only work with full teams" I find  annoying.
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/120323/14/4f6ce5b13208d_m.jpg

Next, read Rule [4] LISTEN TO YOUR AUDIENCE. Part with images that get bad view to comment ratios. Set your own rules, but I personally delete (or hide if I have personal attachment) those images that have a ratio higher than 20 or 30. BTW, your ratios on many images are quite good. Here is one example of an image to remove due to this rule
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130512/16/519020371442f_m.jpg

While I do believe a photog should post his own portrait, I suggest you get rid of one of the two you posted.

'nuff of criticizing. You are a talented  photographer, with some superb images in your port. Here are a couple of my faves.

Pleasing composition, beautiful sensuous model, great natural light
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/110625/18/4e06928d5bc59_m.jpg

Here, in spite of low view to comment ratio, I would keep this image of Katlin's due to her beauty, creative makeup and lighting.

Cheers!

Sorry for skipping you Elena. I recall reviewing your port twice last year - see Page 16 and Page 25 of this thread - so  welcome back!

I see that you have deleted the images I recommended to delete in the first round. I love when my readers listen to me smile  However I note that you have not followed my advice in the second round as seen on Page 25. I am copying that review here:

Thank you

ELENA

Hello again Elena. You may recall I did your port review (page 16) and I see you have deleted the images which I recommended. So your port is in pretty good shape right now as you have no variants, your poses are good, etc.  So now lets take the next step.

While your images project your beautiful figure and face quite well, I think your port includes too many lingerie and bikinis shots. This is sort of a variant in theme. It would be constructive for you to diversify and include such things as interesting wardrobe, night shots, artistic images, or you can go in any number of other directions. Once you start adding these new images, you can also delete some of your bikinis to the point of leaving only half as many as you have now - the viewer or potential client will still get the point that you are in great shape without getting them bored.

I've already pointed my favorite the last time. This one is another:

As for new advice:

1.  I would remove your recent portrait. Your expression is relatively weak compared to your other work and I see no unique concept.
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/121125/01/50b1e25214f34_m.jpg

2. I also suggest that you organize your images more in a logical way (say all B&W in one row) or all landscape images in same row and all portrait images in another row. I discuss this subject in  more detail on Page 30 of this thread - see my review of BlossomFairy and Mare.

My favorite of your recent work is this B&W for your sultry expression and great photography.

Hello Donna,

Welcome to MM. Sorry for skipping you, it is hard for me to keep up.

You have a nice starter portfolio. You have chosen a competent photographer who provided a good glimpse into your beauty. Your poses are captivating.

There is one area that you really, really need to work on - it is your expressions. Often you are just staring into the camera, and it is obvious you are staring. You need to produce expressions that make it seem like the camera is not present, that is you need to look more natural. Don’t try to smile, because a forced smile is almost never natural. So what to do? Just do things you do in your daily life - e.g. admire yourself in the mirror, look out a window, listen to music. And as you doing these thingsm just pretend the photographer is not present.

Because of this, I recommend removing all images where you are staring at the camera. The only such image I would keep is where you are laying on your back. Others must go. Here is one such example. Your figure is nice, the photography is good, but the image is ruined by your stare.
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/130716/22/51e631c75749c_m.jpg

Your other images are professional looking. Here is one example. The photography is good and so is the light. A great display of you nice shape.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for stopping by Soft Lights. You have some great images, however before I tell you which to delete and which are my favorites you need to do some homework. Once I take upon myself to review a port, I spend lot of time doing it. But you need to help me. First, read carefully my guidelines spelled out on Page 1 of this thread, paying particulare attention to Rule [1] "AVOID VARIANT IMAGES". Delete the offending images (they are easy to spot) and then you are more than welcome to come back. Deal?
