I'm surprised that no one has started a thread on Kara Nichols, a missing model from the Colorado area ... she has a profile on Modelmayhem.  https://www.modelmayhem.com/2629622 Her family and friends are looking for her as she has been missing for about a month!

There is plenty of media on this, although I wonder why it took a month for me to learn about it.  Modelmayhem is mentioned in nearly every article on her, so I figure it's worth posting this in the forum here.

Kara is 19 years old, and allegedly left Colorado Springs for a modeling job in Denver.  She never arrived.  If anyone knows where she might be or has seen her, you are urged to contact the police Detective Cliff Porter at 719-520-7227.

Yes, it's down right stupid some of the stereotypes that people have of models and the photographers who shoot them.  But all we can do is try to educate those who are ignorant. If they continue to be ignorant, that's their choice.

Yes, I don't know where Crystal Springs and/or Denver are in relation to you, but hopefully someone will find her soon.

She's from Colorado Springs, and that's about five hours from Durango.

I spoke to her on here about shooting back in May, but it never panned out and I never met her in person. I see she hasn't been on here since August. She seemed like a nice girl. I hope she is ok.

Sad.

I don't understand why the family waited 30 days to start their publicity campaign.

Ask the Detective assigned to the case:

Detective Cliff Porter at 719-520-7227

Are you familiar with the weapon side story in the Tate/LaBianca murders?

Let's say for a moment that a photographer was involved and that the photographer was the head entity regarding the shoot: if the official statement is that she never showed up to the gig, the only way they could know that is by asking the photographer.  Who else would have authoritatively determined that for them?

She's been gone a month and you don't think that anyone suggested they ask him/her?

"Beautiful Distractions" is a joke of an agency. I tried it for a couple months when I first started modeling, and it's nothing but sketchy. I've heard numerous complaints from other models in it, local photographers, etc. Pretty much J Anthony finds random girls, tells them he'll get them amazing work (even though he doesn't have connections), get money out of them, then shoot them in lingerie or nude. Their "events" are even more of a joke too. I feel bad for this girl, but I honestly can't say I'm surprised it's linked to Beautiful Distractions.

I hope they find her alive and well!  But your post is interesting.   I certainly hope nothing criminal happened to her, but knowing that an agency is sketchy with complaints might be important later on in an investigation ... if there is one.

I've heard some things as well.

Oddly, I've never see that model before, but heard about this on the news last night....they kept talking about the seedy sub-culture of modeling that was prevalent in the Denver area.

Man, am I missing out, apparently.

I hope they find her.  I am not sure why they would mention Modelmayhem much since it looks like she had not been on it for two months prior to her dissapearance.

Yes, my sister moved to the area and has not told me about this "seedy sub-culture" even though she knows I photograph models.  -being sarcastic-  But really it's very stereotypical and wrong of the media to paint it as such!  hmm

Police in Colorado investigating the disappearance of 19-year-old aspiring model Kara Nichols are now looking for two women who were last seen with Nichols before she vanished.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/kara-nichols-p … K2cdYawXe4

"Even if this young lady has no information, just the simple fact that she could tell us how they parted, what her parting words were, could be huge," El Paso County Sheriff's Detective Cliff Porter said.

Police are also seeking a second woman, also with brown hair, who they said associated with Nichols. They're not sure about the nature and frequency of their contact but said they believe that someone who has knowledge of the modeling world could have information about Nichols, or the two women.

If they would supply decent photos of these 'brunettes' someone could Tineye.com or Google image search them and try to ID them.

edit:

Here they are

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article … ds-newsxml

https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/11/21/article-2236603-1627DDFE000005DC-234_306x423.jpg

I saw nothing from Google on this one. Or Tineye.

https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/11/21/article-2236603-1627DE0E000005DC-727_306x423.jpg

Nothing on this one, either.

If it is a significant crop from a larger image that could throw off the search algorithm.

I hate to see it happen but it finally may have. The one thing that no one on MM wants to believe is real could have actually happened! Maybe models will finally get smart and photogs will stop making them feel like crap for wanting to be safe!

I hope they find her soon and alive I pray for her family. Today is Thanksgiving and I am sure it will be hard to enjoy with all of this going on and the absence of their daughter. =[

There is no evidence that this disappearance had anything to do with modeling.

Let's keep the comments to Kara and leave the escort debate to the numerous other threads on the topic.
