The 747 Has Reinvented Itself!
Dec 02 12 05:22 pm Link The 747 didn't reinvent itself. Some engineers did. Pretty great plane, though. It first rolled out my freshman year in high school. I never imagined it would still be in service by now. Same for another Boeing product: the B-52. I maintained them back when I was in the Air Force in the '70s and even then they were considered dinosaurs. Thirty-five years later, a few are still flying. Dec 02 12 05:50 pm Link My dad was on the engineering team that designed the front landing assembly. We had to relocate to Seattle for about 10 months in the late 1960s. Personally, I think it's too cramped for overseas flights. 777 is much better. I expect to have a flight on the 787 in June. Really looking forward to that. Dec 02 12 06:01 pm Link It has been said that when the last B-2 is taken to storage at Davis-Monthan AFB in 20 years, the crew will go home flying a B-52. I would say the same thing about the 787, great plane that it is. When the last one goes into storage, the crew will go home on a 747... Dec 02 12 08:15 pm Link I think your a Year Behind...LOL This New Livery is one of the Best. They gave it 4 new designed engines, Longer extended Fuselage, and Cargo Carrier. http://bcove.me/vb5ud92e Dec 02 12 08:26 pm Link Orca Bay Images wrote: bahaha Lt. Dec 02 12 10:55 pm Link The 747 is a stroke of engineering luck. For example its hull is very solid and it can also fly on a single engine. But it has a weak point like the Lockerbie bomb showed... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5naaWe3nLI Dec 02 12 11:14 pm Link Instinct Images wrote: Here is the first one ever built: Dec 02 12 11:19 pm Link dp Dec 02 12 11:21 pm Link ei Total Productions wrote: The A380 is a huge step forward, and was designed to have the same impact on the market that the 747 did when it was launched. As Boeing itself has learned with the 787, building a mostly composite aircraft is really hard. Dec 03 12 02:08 am Link I have a photo of one of the first 747 flights out of New York.
