Photographer Joey L
has just written a book called

Photographing Shadow and Light:
Inside the Dramatic Lighting Techniques and Creative Vision of Portrait Photographer Joey L

which I bought myself for Christmas.

If you like reading about the craft of lighting and photography you should check out this book.

He has a DVD too, apparently

The kid is like 12 years old or something and he shoots as good as anyone. Ok, I think he's 21 now, but still.

i have that book on my amazon wishlist. there seem to be varying opinions about the guy himself but his photos look pretty good.

on the topic of learning about photography, i've been watching lindsay adler on kelby talking about shooting in a park at noon. i so wish i had access to that video when i started. it covers so much of what's involved in flash-less outdoor shooting.

People can say what they want, but the kid works his ass off.

Got Joey L's book for Christmas as well. Only about halfway through it, but it's been a good read so far. I envy that he has such a good idea of who he is as an artist at such a young age. I watched his video with Lara Jade awhile back and enjoyed watching how different their creative processes are. He's young for sure, but someone to keep an eye on.

PRetty nice to see someone promoting themselves and sharing this way. I am far behind in the social media support community, so after watching a CreativeLive business webinar I see potential in just what Joey is doing.

Surprising is the maturity in his comments presented in the promotion video. If the complete package is as good then this is a nice investment.

Nice to see someone releasing a normal book/DVD at a normal price rather than a $300 pdf ebook or DVD like many other photogs.

I might check it out but I'm not really crazy on his lighting, eveything on location looks very overlit for my taste.
