Which photo would be considered a "candid" photo?
A model manager with rockstar energy drinks wants me to send her a candid photo of me smiling, unedited. I have two here, one with no makeup smiling taken with my cell phone, and the other from far taken with my webcam with little makeup. Which one is better, unsure what a candid photo is. Thank you! 1] http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk14 … did1-1.jpg 2] http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk14 … andid2.jpg Jan 09 13 12:11 am Link theyd both qualify, but of the two available id go with the first one, since its less posy with less makeup. Jan 09 13 12:18 am Link I like 1 better Jan 09 13 12:18 am Link A Candid image is of a person doing stuff without them noticeing that your takeing a Candid shot of them Hence the word Candid. Smile your on Candid Camera. Jan 09 13 12:21 am Link From the dictionary: candid- relating to or being photography of subjects acting naturally or spontaneously without being posed. Whenever you don't know, look it up. Takes two seconds to use the online dictionary or google. The 2nd image is better, although I would try and redo it with a less distracting background (example: against a wall). Your face looks better in the first image, but the top of your head is cut off. Best of luck. Jan 09 13 12:22 am Link the way you look in the first one is great (very little make up) you need a shot like that, except in better quality, with a less distracting background, less distracting clothes (like, a tanktop) and with the top of your head intact . second one is also nice, but less "candid" because the hand near your face makes it look posed. good luck with the job! Jan 09 13 12:28 am Link Both photos look very good, but self portraits are seldom candid. Have a friend take the photo from a distance, use the zoom to fill the frame. Try to look anywhere except to the camera. . Jan 09 13 05:08 am Link You should stage your "candids" better. Make sure that you are showing what you want and not showing what you don't want shown. People observe a lot. For example, it wouldn't hurt to have an empty Rockstar in the background as product placement. Also, make sure you're wearing a decent top. Good luck with it. Jan 09 13 07:03 am Link For me, a candid photo is something shot spontaneously without the subject posing or performing -and most often without explicit consent- for the camera. What this person probably meant is that he wanted to see how you look without make-up and photoshop, or at least how you normally look on any given day. I'm sure I've read more than one post here about scams involving that product. But anyway, I think either picture is candid enough. Jan 09 13 08:02 am Link I just "Googled" rock star energy drinks, and before I was done typing, Google put up rock star energy drinks SCAM. It is a scam being run all over the place. One Google headline says, "FBI to investigate Rock star .... Jan 09 13 08:11 am Link Neither is candid. A candid photograph is one taken by someone else without the subject knowing when the picture is actually taken even though the subject knows that photographs are being taken. Having stated that, I prefer the first one. Jan 09 13 08:23 am Link Brenda MacSwan wrote: Both are very candid, however did they simply want face? Did they want body? Jan 09 13 01:09 pm Link Technically neither is candid. However given the context I believe what the person is looking for is a photo which represents what you'd look like walking in off the street. Since it's for promo work I'd suggest sending something that shows a warm/friendly/inviting personality and your figure. Jan 09 13 01:36 pm Link I'd have a simple professional headshot taken...by somebody that specializes in what the industry expects. Go easy on the makeup. Jan 09 13 03:11 pm Link Neither is even remotely candid. Best way to get a quick-and-dirty candid? Get a friend to hold the camera at arm's length. Have a conversation with that person and ignore the camera. Have that person snap a few shots when you're in an animated part of the conversation and you're not expecting the shot. Jan 09 13 07:00 pm Link In the true sense neither is a candid, these are more self-snapshots. Candid means the main element is the unawareness of being photographed in a totally natural state of going about your day. Jan 09 13 09:19 pm Link Neither shot is candid. Someone else needs to take them to be called candid. These are self portrait snapshots. Jan 09 13 09:39 pm Link Brenda MacSwan wrote: Rut Roh...
