Body shell mostly made of Carbon Fibre

Engine Components made of Gold instead of el cheapo aluminio

No manuals or instructions to repair some components, so some parts and components are made to order on specialist foundries.

The amount of the repair bill can buy 28 brand spanking new Land Cruisers.

Hmmmm.... what option to choose.... hard decision...

He is a car nut, and awesome.
Thats one of the most rare cars out there, and he drives it!
Its totally worth the repair bill.
Probably has about 50k miles on the thing.

I'm pretty sure this is Rowan's F1 on loan to Top Gear

unless the insurance company wrote estimates on it for funsies, i doubt he paid anything more than his deductible.

as for why someone would want to own one..... exclusivity... performance... etc!

And a McLaren F1 is only $1 mil to begin with. Why would a repair bill be 159% the cost of the car.

That was one mil new. You cant find them any more. It truly is like asking why the last Ferrari GTO cost 30+mil when it was sold. Most car decrease in value the moment it rolls two inches with the engine running .... some only increase in value.

I don't understand why people love football.  Cars, though, are awfully fun toys.

The best is always expensive...and usually worth it to people who do not care about cost.

Compared to a trophy wife exotic cars are cheap. Ask Tiger.

Shrug. Different people like different things. I, for instance, don't understand the fascination with shoes. But it happens even lacking my understanding.

I understand the shoe thing, the car thing, not so much.
