So,I moved to Tampa 2 weeks ago...
Lookin' for stuff to do...Places to see... But what I really need to do is find a job... Yep, a real,9-5,m-f freakin job!! Been cruising Craigslist,Snag-a-Job,Posting my resume everywhere... I know something will come along eventually but,I'm just itching to have some structure and some income...mostly income:)... My professional background is in shipping/receiving/warehouse/E-Commerce type stuff... Any ideas are appreciated... How did you find your job after a re-location??? I have 3-4 interviews per week but...then they want a second interview and then...I don't know what...it's a slow freakin' process! I have another second interview tomorrow and a first interview on Wednesday. I left Orlando because the wife of the couple that I shared the place with is going thru Chemo treatments and wanted some private space for a while. I was never that crazy about Orlando anyway...I like to be nearer the oceans/beaches/water... I'm gettin' a bit antsy...sittin' in my hotel room and sending resumes off into cyber-space. Apr 29 13 04:22 pm Link For some reason CareerBuilder.com has always been the best source for finding jobs. Networking is great but being new there makes that kinda tough. Still, you might mention to people you meet that you are new in town and looking for a job. You never know what might come of it. Good luck to you. Tampa/St. Pete is a beautiful place. Apr 29 13 05:03 pm Link I was over in the "Indian Rocks " area the other day...a small section called "Bellaire"...really,really nice area.Looked at an apartment...good sized 1 BDR/1Ba for $615 mo...$500 deposit...small swimming pool and laundry on site...Publix only about 300 yards away...Pinellas Trail was around 1.5 miles away (I'm a cyclist!). I liked the area enough to actually live there...IF I can find a job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best thing when on the move is if you work for a large corporation and you can ask for transfers. I like more Orlando than Tampa- its easier for me here to work with models and a lot of fun places to go. One word of caution- employers often google names- you don't want them to have a twat right in their face. Ummm, Billy Badfinger is not my real name... and I don't mention that part of my life anywhere on my resume... In fact,Googling my real name is rather boring...almost nothing shows up!!! @Gus W... West Marine has over 300 stores so...HUGE prob isn't the correct word... BIG is a better description... But they DO have plans for 2 new stores in Florida alone in the near future. And while many people see boats and fishing as frivolous luxuries... for many Floridians their boats are more of a necessary addiction and passion that often receive more attention than their jobs or families.
