Is it great marketing....even with the video pulled, we are discussing both Tyler and Dew. I've seen marketing companies come up with some really goofy stuff... and some of it actually works with the target audiences. May 01 13 03:45 pm Link It's hard to imagine that this youtube video would ever be remotely considered as a real advertisement. May 01 13 03:48 pm Link Lightcraft Studio wrote: Yeah but they're usually careful to protect their brand. I do makeup for commercials and some are just for the internet because many young people have computers but don't watch tv. They watch everything via internet. I wonder how many takes it took to get the damn goat to stand still? lol May 01 13 04:01 pm Link Pepsi who owns Mountain Dew is a client of the advertising company (BBDO) who hired Tyler, the Creator to make the commercials. It will be interesting to see how this plays out between Pepsi, the agency and the guy that did the spot. Personally, I've never been a big fan of simply getting people to talk - that is SO easy to do- but rather, to get them talking about what you WANT them to. And often in advertising, it's not a message, it's not even an attitude, it's a mentality that comes through that the target audience can relate to. (and I'm not necessarily talking about this spot for Dew but thinking back on my surf/skate days) May 01 13 08:44 pm Link T wrote: I can imagine! May 01 13 09:58 pm Link Tyler doesn't care about racism. http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.2 … the-n-word the show he does, loiter squad, is just one long series of stereotypes. May 02 13 11:51 am Link Since it was created by a black guy can it be racist? Or is he just portraying what he sees as society's stereotypes of black men? Either way it's misogynistic and in poor taste with an abuser threatening the abused woman. I can only imagine the outrage if this commercial had been created by a white guy! May 02 13 12:02 pm Link |
