Adobe abandons the 5D !
Did you know that the Canon 5D Classic or Original isn't supported for tether capture in Lightroom 4.2 and beyond? 4.1 YES, but if you upgrade to 4.4 or others to get rid of the bugs, they "break" the tether function for that camera. It won't work in 5 either. The work around is to have both Lightroom 3 AND 4 on your computer, so you capture with 3 and then process with 4 or 5 or what have you. Less and less I am liking Adobe. Sep 08 13 01:57 pm Link It wasn't supported for a while now. Age of the camera is irrelevant in this case - there are a lot of 5D shooters out there (myself included). It's not up to Adobe to decide when and how we should upgrade our cameras. Sep 08 13 09:02 pm Link I agree. I think it's not up to Microsoft decide if they want to cancel DOS games support. Sometimes I want to play original Warcraft and it doesn't work. And monitors should support 8 bit 256 colors video full screen. 5d software not compatible with Lightroom 5. Same as nice care not compatible with cheap gas. You want cheap gas, get older car. Sep 08 13 09:54 pm Link By this analogy 5DC RAW files should not be supported in Lightroom, neither should 20D, 1DS MkII, etc. For that matter any support for the cameras as devices should not be available in any later revisions of OSes. Adobe didn't remove tethering for 5DC because of the support, but because their heads are far up their arses. By all means they can do what they please with their software (and they are doing it already). It's just not a very nice practice. My 'eventing computer' I use along with a D200 & WT-3. If I update software in order to tether my D800, including CCP2, then I lose D200 & D70 tether support. Maybe it is the old USB1 standards that are the problem ? Sep 18 13 10:35 am Link I get how this is a big deal as 5d has no live view and has smomewhat inferior screen.
