It has been a long time, maybe a couple of years... and I would like some practice.

So, if you are interested... I will create a poem or verse based on one of your images (or your whole portfolio if I am so inclined)

If you like it a bit, perhaps you could put me on a list, or send a friend request.

If you don't like it... oh well.

If it inspires you and you want to work with me, let me know.

Mostly... just for fun.

So... who's first?

*Note- Not all images speak to me...and it is not about quality every time. You can request a specific image, but your chances decrease.. . which brings me to the point... if for some reason, none of your images speak to me in a meaningful way I will have to respectfully decline. If I decline, this should not be considered a reflection of your work... like all art, the audience does not always connect the way we think they will.

Is there anything in my portfolio you would like to expand upon with your poetry?

I like poetry.

Or maybe this lovely lady by a warm fire on a hot winter night?

From your portfolio....this inspiration:

There once was a male Ballerina
in a tutu, was looking quite keena'
as the models all gazed,
they all stood there amazed,
and said "that surely looks like a weena'!"

wink

Now... for something completely different.
Your second link inspired this one.

Pale,
dark,
I gaze into the depths
past reflected light
flawless paleness causing pausing
deeper descent denied

sharpened accents on softer edges
pulling
then releasing
searching in the distance
for
.

Yes those eyes see clearly
that flesh lies beautifully
that heart beats quickly
that pulse throbs strongly

and your watch ticks incessantly

mine did too

Response #1 - Limerick! I love it and it's perfect!

Response #2 - You are a romantic, insightful and soulful guy, aren't you?

Bravo!

Your avatar, combined with one or two of your other images gave rise to...

Holding me close
at arms length
you contemplate from a distance

imperceptibly we move closer
you, feeling safe, so secure
so alive
me, sliding closer to be nearer to thee

you don't take me seriously
you flirt with me
you contemplate me

I take you, seriously
or I will
when it's time

sooner or later, though, you will decide
that I am not the one you desire
my dark allure will wear off and be replaced

probably around the time you start a family
or have your 37th Birthday
or see me with another woman who seems a bit like you

because I will wait for you
but in the meantime, I will not stay alone

eventually we will embrace
you live for that moment

I could be mistaken, but I think I wrote one for you in the first version of this thread that I can't seem to find anymore.

That being said, your brick image spoke to me.

Juxtaposed
hard and soft
yielding and uncompromising
bone and flesh
brick and mortar
and meet
and meat
and me at the crossroads
you passed just yesterday maybe,
a few years ago
a blink in forever
an eternity of moments
that can never be fully lived
and yet have been lived
endured
fulfilled
filled
met
like soft flesh meeting real brick
and the meeting
is as gentle
as it is inevitable

We are cold
are worn
are humbled

we have born the weight
carried the expectations
suffered the humiliation
weathered the storms

we are worn
threadbare
scarred
matted

and yet we stand, beautiful and battered
gazing distorted refracted dejected impacted
and consider that

perfectly reflected imperfection
imperfectly reflects
perception

Cold crystal
hard steel
brittle ice

When did you leave your softness behind you
and who would you kick with those blades?

Crisp coldness becomes you
yet leaves me wishing for a summer afternoon

Derby Queen

she is racing
see her chasing
on the track the path she's tracing
her opponent now is facing
to the loss she will be tasting

smooth as glass
she's hauling ass
look out behind, she's going to pass
foot off the brake, full on the gas
she's got the fire, she's got the brass

her wheels they spin
straight as a pin
you can't conceive the zone she's in
the crowd is cheering, hear the din
because this chick is here to win

We protect the softer parts
we also shield the tender hearts
we avoid the bitter pain
concealed with all our finer arts

for the world our masks we show
give facades for all to know
keep our beauty well within
caged we will not let it go

Your photos come close to engaging me emotionally, but not quite. It seems as if your expressions are guarded somehow...so I came up with this. Hope you like it, or it brings you some creative incentive at least.

What is under there?
under there
under there

hiding, just there
just there

just there

I'm not sure if it is some piece of matronly judgement
or a jagged bit of schoolmate's taunt

perhaps a smidgen of father who
who
who
who spent too much time at work
and not enough time reading stories

perhaps it is a genetic thing
a shyness ghost
a self inflicted perfection monster monster

something is there though
I can almost see it
sense it's potential presence

but look, it's gone. or
is it?
