Hey all!

I am doing a shoot on friday with another male model and we want to do some tasteful art nude together.

Problem is, I am completely stuck for inspiration, and have spent the afternoon looking at more porn than my brain can handle, as thats pretty much what comes up when you google search male / female art nude. I actually need brain bleach right now.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a model of photographer that has done this?

Or just help with ideas for poses?

This is my first post, please be nice!  big_smile

First off .. Nude ART and porn are like oil and water , Life vs Death ...IMO.. You will find NO inspiration looking at the porn ....

If George Mann is still here ( see also "ModelFusion").. check out his work ... It will give you something to start with  - although he just captures the female .... but I can easily see how those can be worked in with a male nude ... but NOT the male nude you see in the porn ... most of which only need a wife beater ( that is american slang for the armless tee shirts) with arm band tatoo and shaved or slicked back hair  to complete the image of grossness.

Yip. I had to ask the kids to leave the room at some of the image results.

We both would like some nice B&W pics, nothing actually showing, nothing sexual and defs not porn.

Mind you, I googled the Giant from Jack in the Beanstalk once for my kids school project. Let's just say I won't be doing that again.

And TY, I will look him up x

I am a fan of images like this. The photographer does mainly real couples so most of his shots are not going to be what you are interested in.

Check out the work of Rusty Shackelford and Katz Pajamaz - husband and wife who do a lot of work together (also both great to work with).

Have you looked at some paintings?
Research painters: Rubens, Titian, Bosch, Boucher, Michelangelo, DaVinci. Fantasy painters: Boris Vallejo, Luis Royo and Brian Froud.

Fine art painting is a cornucopia of figure studies and nude work.

Google image search for Lucian Freud- he did a few paintings with multiple figures.

View David Hamilton and Helmut Newton for two very distinct approaches to the female nude.

OP: two things that might help you.

1. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=couple+art+nude

2. Have you spoken to the photographer that will be shooting the images to see if they can provide you with a story/mood board? Unless you are the one setting up a camera on a tripod, that might be a good way to go also.

good luck

Britalicus has some great couples nudes in his port.

Best of luck!

Art photography expresses the thoughts and ideas of the artist.  If you are surfing around for ideas which others have done, then you are not shooting art.  Not sure what that is.

Okay, here's my advice.

1.  For all couples/tandem shoots (whether they're B-G, G-G, B-B) I tell the models that unless the concept explicitly calls for it, I do NOT want them looking like two attractive people who are oblivious to each other.  There should be some sort of connection that says "I acknowledge your presence, I get that there is a second person in the room/setting".  It doesn't have to be touching...it could be eye-contact, it could be body posture.  One of you could be pissed off at the other or scared of the other or curious.  Express that.  You'll get some interesting poses and ideas.

2.  Bring a prop the two of you can react to.  A rose.  You asleep, the male hovering over you as he prepares to place a rose on your chest.  Are you dead?  Merely sleeping?  Sleeping beauty?

3.  Look for lines or forms that the two of you can shape with (thing of these as environmental nudes).

Would this be what you are looking for perhaps?

The idea, I explained to the models was to make the shots 'look' erotic.. but virtually show nothing naughty at all..
There are others from this shoot in my portfolio by the way..
