Models (and photographers too if you want to chime in):  What is your favorite photo shoot that you have ever done and why?  I'm interested to hear what makes for the best shoots.  I'm sure everyone has their different favorites that they like most for certain reasons.

My favorite:  In January of 2005, I landed my first published shoot ever--it was for Co-Ed Magazine, which is Maxim's college version of their magazine that gets distributed and sold in the book stores on college campuses.  It was my favorite shoot ever because it was easy, fun, and I felt like royalty (which as a poor college student meant a lot to me.  The day of the shoot, they set up in the nicest hotel near my campus and let us order anything we wanted off of room service.  It was my first time getting my hair and makeup done professionally, and the first time I had a professional wardrobe stylist.  They made sure we were comfortable and helped us in and out of warm, fuzzy robes between shots since it was cold outside.  And when the magazine came out, they came back to my college and threw a release party and gave us models a bunch of free stuff and gift cards, which again, as a poor college student I appreciated.  You would think the photo shoot where I got paid the most money would be my favorite, but I didn't even get paid for the Co-Ed Magazine shoot.  It's my favorite because it's the one where I felt the most special.

um... tough decision!

I'd say one of my favorite shoots was with this photographer who had moved from NY to CA, we did an editorial type shoot. It was in a home studio, and there were 2 cats around. Cats make everything better. Unless you're allergic.

I have to agree, it is a very tough decision.

I think I'm going to need to cheat/break the rules a little and for the purposes of this question, refer to a couple relaxed days of shooting with the same person as one favorite shoot.

I am going to select that shoot not only because it was a great deal of fun and ridiculously awesome working with her, but also because it was such a fantastic collaboration.  We created some of the best photographs that I've ever taken, and I have taken around 2 million photos in my lifetime.

Objectively speaking, I'm not sure what else or what more would be needed to replace it as a favorite, but I'm looking forward to trying to surpass it some time in the future.  smile

Did a shoot with two models who were very close friends, with the theme "Powerful Women". The two gals really invested their personalities and creativity in the shoot: working with the hair & makeup artist, working together on wardrobe selection, and thinking about how their characters would respond to the "storyboard" situations presented to them in their role as powerful New Mexico landowners and investors.  In addition to great work on the storyboard, there were wonderful spontaneous moments when the two women riffed on themes arising from the storyboard, and played together.

Upcoming "favorite" shoot: an American Sign Language interpreter (and professional model) is going to do an interpretation of Isaiah 6: 1-9 for us to photograph & do a video.  We've rehearsed it a couple of times, it's going to be wonderful!

I also have quite a few favorites, which make it difficult to pick the top ones.

When I was very pregnant at age 39, I visited a nudist resort on photo day, and was the center of attention for a while. I'm sure that at least 100 people photographed me that afternoon and it was a lot of fun. It was very casual and relaxed.

More recently, to celebrate my 60th birthday I had several photo sessions over the course of 3 days at a beautiful 100 year old farm which had been turned into a bed and breakfast. Both indoor and outdoor work, and it was a really special time. A few of my favorite shots from that are in my portfolio.

Not sure about favorite, recently had a shoot that was in the top ones for fun.

Worked with a model who had some concerns about body issues. I setup as a TF shoot with the expectation that she could "veto" or delete any photos that she felt were not complementary. We had a great time and she was ecstatic with our work. It helped that we shot tethered and reviewed the images often.

Hmm

I'm going to say there were 3 in the keys that trancended everything, and all 3 had something in common,an incredible sunset and a model that almost became one with the water and sky
2011 with AprilCheryse..still the measuring point for sunsets

And my last 2 in the keys...(including my avi)
Killer sunsets and great models

I've had a lot of great shoots, but my absolute favorite so far was the one I did with Damianne. ( https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/1 … fa2759.jpg 18+)

We spent the entire day together shooting in a rural, almost desert-like location.  We got along great and had some very in-depth conversations.  The lighting was just great everywhere we went as well and she was just phenomenal at posing. She's gorgeous as well.  It was like everything was just flowing together effortlessly.  We had dinner than night, and then talked on the drive back home.

Sometimes you just really click with a model.  When that happens, the images reflect that.

it goes something like this:

man: play me your biggest hit.
james brown: brother, i can't do that.
man: well, then play me the best of James Brown.
james brown: brother, i can't do that!
man: well why not?
james brown: because brother, the best is yet to come!

My favorite was mainly because of the location-an 1800's church. The best photo from that double shoot was on a staircase using natural light, shot with a vintage 8 X 10 camera. I had looked at the website of the location ahead of time and even forwarded a picture of the staircase to the photographer. We get to the staircase and he says we will use that. He hadn't even looked at the attachment I sent him! Great minds think alike;)
