Quick question....

I'm booked this weekend for a sunrise couples set with myself and a female model to be shot at the "old L.A. Zoo" in Griffith Park. I've known about this place for years but have never been or shot there nor have any of my photographer contacts. The shoot was planned as dress clothes, swim or underwear and possibly nudes, but I've heard conflicting reports as to what is allowed and can safely be done there. I believe this  is an extremely popular place to shoot but beyond that I know nothing about the location or what to expect.

I know no one like to tip their hand at giving away a good location so if anyone can PM me with what they know or any advice it would be SO appreciated.  Examples of images shot there would be awesome too.

Thank you so much in advance.

seems to be a lot of shots on flickr.  Might try to search there and contact those people if no one has ideas here.

The old zoo is a great location to shoot.  While it is popular with photographers and hikers, my guess is you won't see much early morning traffic there.  If you're considering nudes, I would definitely recommend taking precautions people usually suggest like having a lookout, code word, shooting quickly, and slip-on/off clothes handy.

At least you don't have to worry about a commuter train passing through the set on this one.

There is a "link" button, can look just like a "like" button after a few Gin & Tonics (note, its freaking hot in SoCal).

I scouted there on more than one occasion to do a shoot, including one 6.30 am start. There was always at least one other team there and one day there was three individual groups doing MU and wardrobe in the carpark. Like most places in LA you are supposed to permit which clearly these groups had because they had ranger escorts with them.

It accessibility is part of the problem it's literally 100 yes from the carpark. Good luck!

The couples set never worked out so I still haven't shot at the zoo. I booked headshots this weekend but anyone help me with the physical location or access? I couldn't find clear directions and haven't heard back from the photog yet. I like a day to prepare especially when I have to book a second shoot in one day-which is also on the table.

Thanks all!
