Never had a photographer already be drunk, but I did once work for an artist who became so drunk while working with me (I declined a drink because I wanted to, ya know, model well) that he was falling all over himself and making things difficult for me. It was pretty atrocious.

He later asked me for feedback on working with him and I suggested to him that he not drink while working. His reply was a sea of butthurtedness, claiming that I should have had some liquor when he offered and because I didn't it was my fault for being offended by his raging alcoholism.

Ive never had someone who I could tell was drunk, but Ive worked with a couple who have a beer or two while shooting. Im pretty used to guys drinking beer like I drink soda, so that doesnt bother me so much. If they were throwing back shots or something, or they were super lightweights and were considerably intoxicated from a beer then Id have an issue with it. Ive never been unhappy with the results of a shoot where someone had a beer or two.

Ive had plenty of people get high before or during shoots, and Im usually pretty unhappy with the results. I dont know what it is about me that says "sure, get fucking blazed and screw up my shoot, I won't care, I wasn't at all expecting this trade shoot to produce work on par with what I saw in your portfolio, no worries bro, we'll just fucking hang out instead and you'll stumble around like an idiot and offer me drugs 2398749827598275982475 times and then apologize for how fucked up you are and then laugh like its not a big deal"…maybe its written on the back of my head or something. hmm

What, in your infinite wisdom determines at what age someone cannot model.

And if you're a photographer, you can see it in the capillaries of their eyes.

This is incredibly ironic since I work with an eye surgeon as a nurse and do anesthesia eval and haven't heard this mind blowing piece of info. Maybe he has the slit lamp out to examine??? What if she has retinopathy??? Now we are busting on diabetic models? Smh

It seems to be a new trend for models to show up stoned or on pills. Over the past year 98% have been high and I have had a couple girls come to my studio so stoned on pills they couldn't keep their eyes open and were nodding. It's very frustrating to have booked the time and have spent money on props and clothing, just to be disappointed.

This is the thread you are looking for:http://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thread_id=926482

It's when a MODEL shows up to a shoot drunk or whatever. This is the thread asking if you have had a PHOTOGRAPHER do the same.

Kimber, is there a particular reason you're upset at my statement that Isis is, age notwithstanding, a model? Or did you just fail to actually read the post you quoted?

Since it's her first post, I'm guessing it was just a mistake in pressing Reply on your post, which had the post to which she was responding quoted.  From the context, I don't think she is questioning your statement.

I guess I'm just having a bad day today. <sigh>

Actually, responding on an IPad can be challenging. So my sincere apologies.
I couldn't decide if I was offended or amused at someone's opinion regarding one's ability to model based upon their age.
Forgive my misquote. I hope this clarifies. And by the way, I'm 45, and I do quite well.

I could never show up to a shoot drunk.
What would the models think?

And I'm not sure I could take a good picture in that state either.  I'd be afraid of losing my balance and breaking equipment.

When I shot with a model I do tend to talk a lot.   I sure do hope models don't think I'm on something because I'm not.  I don't do any drugs.  I guess I chat too much because most of the time I'm alone and don't speak with anyone.  Or maybe I'm just excited about the shoot.

Ok, so here's a lesson to learn for models.  ANF has a STRICT policy of "no drinking" for four days before a shoot.

I have had a model show up hungover and shitfaced.  He said, "But, that's Ok.  After all, you can take care of this in Photoshop," as I personally patched up his inflammations in the bathroom.

If he weren't a VERY good friend of mine, I would have cancelled.

Another?  I threw him into the makeup pen.

And the only reason I tolerated them was because they were personal friends.

Otherwise, you show up shitfaced on a Sunday morning for partying on a Saturday?

You had two weeks notice and you weren't prepared.  Fired.  And I don't fucking care that it's Sunday and last night was Saturday.  Last night was Saturday for me, too.

+1. Neither of us should be showing up drunk or hungover. It's unprofessional and can make the shoot a waste of time.

Four days?  Do you do urine tests too? Tethers with alcohol sensors?

Ha ha, but this wasn't Australia. He also told me he was nervous. I don't think he was used to naked models.

I'll sometimes have a beer or glass of wine before the shoot, and a couple during. Actual drunk? No. That would be unprofessional and I need my wits about me to ensure the photos come out well.

What's really funny is this photographer has shot famous musicians and was off his game shooting little old me. To be honest he wasn't used to having do the lighting himself because he mainly did concerts.

He may just have the shakes, from too much drinking...
That dude is is the wrong business..
Very unprofessional..

Some models have told me stories about some photographers drinking while shooting..
The photographer thought they were cool and no big deal.
But each of those models told me they were either horrified, wanted to leave (and some did) or they thought the person was unprofessional...
