To me, the second one has a more appealing skin color.

Her eyes are gorgeous and her finger nails are so wonderful!

#1 looks more like something you'd see in a magazine, beautiful and dreamy, plus the golden tones make it feel luxurious.  I really like it.

#2 is more "real".  The skin/tones are more realistic.

I prefer the feel of #1, but I think both of them have value.  Just depends on what you plan to use them for.  If you're just using them for your port, I'd go with #2, for magazine submissions #1.  Nice work on both!

I wish the nails could be retouched a bit so it wasn't obvious that they're stick-ons. That's the only small flaw I see.

Second. The greenish doesn't bother me when the photos looks like it could be aged. But too much in this photo speaks modern to me, which is why I think second is lovely and works

For me the first. But they're both great.

I'm showing my ignorance here: are stick-on nails different in kind and effect than eye liner, brow pencil, etc?

Yes, it's different because fake nails are supposed to blend a little more seamlessly with the actual nail, so it shouldn't be obvious at a glance that they're fake.   Much like false eyelashes, when they're applied poorly, you can easily see where the real ones end and the fake ones begin.  When applied correctly, that isn't the case.

I wouldn't do that.

Your portfolio has a loud voice and you don't want it to be saying:" I don't know what looks good, I just try different things".

Upload the one YOU like better because the next client will hire you for your own personal vision.

Agreed. I'd be picking #2. #1 darkens the right side of the face too much and has kind of a sickly tone.

I like 2. One seems flat to me because the colors are all too similar in tonal balance and I think that makes it dull.

As with the majority so far, I prefer the second, at least in a vacuum. If there were a specific reason to want the cooler tones of the first, then that would be the obvious choice. But with no guidance about the image's ultimate use, I would go with the more natural-looking second image.
