Hey MMers,

I'm a newbie because I am still a full-time college student in the Midwest but thought I would try modeling this summer. I spend a lot of my time in and underwater so I thought even though I want to get into fashion, I would try swimsuit modeling.

I have a photoshoot coming up and I'm looking for tips or posing examples for bikini shoots. I know to put weight on the leg away from the camera and to angle my body to create an "S" shape figure, but other than that, pretty much a beginner.

Any input would be great, thanks!

As a photographer who doesn't really pose the models he's working with, I can offer little advice for your question.

I will say though, that you have a truly fabulous look for swimsuit modeling.

Best of luck smile

Check out Victoria Secret's bathing suit section for inspiration and practice the poses in the mirror and see what works best with your body type.

Find out if the photographer wants posed shots, or an unposed lifestyle look.

He might want:

~ obviously posed
~ posed but doesn't look like it's posed
~ natural relaxation
~ spontaneity
~ movement

In any case, knowing your angles will work to your advantage.
During the shoot, ask if he's shooting full body, 3/4 etc and adjust accordingly.

Have a great time!

Thanks so much! smile Your portfolio is gorgeous, by the way!

And thank you all to the links, suggestions, and kind words. Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time practicing in the mirror.
