Has anyone experienced (fell for, in my case) the "comment for comment" main page promise? Let me start by saying that I enjoy looking at others work. It's fascinating, and you people are all very talented. I've given, and continue to give comments to most people I visit. That out of the way I'd like to touch on something that's boggled my mind in the past... You sign in, and read the comments section. "Good morning mmers.." "Weathers great god bless" and the dreadful "comment for comment". I'm not asking for a comment based this alone. I like feedback from other people. This is the reason I've done this in the past. To get more visitors to review my work. Has this happened to anyone out there or am I again the only one!?

Do you want people saying "comment for comment" to return their side after you comment their work, or are you asking that of OTHER people who don't specifically say they're looking for comments? Because when someone comments on my stuff, I don't feel an obligation to even look at their portfolios, let alone comment on their photos. If you really want an opinion from people, post in the critique section. Comments are fluff. Largely meaningless.

Are you asking if we have seen someone ask for a comment for comments trade before? Yes I have. I have a feeling you are trying to ask if we have ever commented on that persons photos and they did not reciprocate and comment back. I haven't ran into that situation because I have never done a comment for comment. The whole comment for comment thing has been around for years. I remember it on myspace.

Do I fish for comments? No. Do I bite when other people fish for comments? No. If someone comments on my work, I would like it to be because they actually like my work, not because they were fulfilling some silly obligation.

I find comments, in the grand scheme of things, to be a thermostat for the wow-factor. Things get more comments when they attract people's attention and want to say something about. If you don't like the main page then just bookmark the forums page for your landing then.

To clarify, I was expecting feedback on my work after giving it to another who stated "comment for comment". I see your point on "fluffing". This is definitely not what I'd personally go for, but I see this happening. Thank you for the suggestion on the critique area. I was not aware of this section.

I get plenty of comments without asking for them. One of my images has 32 comments. There are others with 38 and 44 comments.

I made a mistake. It has 32 comments. I have to correct that. I guess that I was tired after photographing the Kellie Pickler concert outdoors last night. It was delayed because of rain.

I've never understood the whole "comment for comment" thing; it's just plain nonsense. However, after reading this thread it got me to wondering... So, I checked the main page and saw a few comment for comment announcements and I went for it and commented away! "returned 2x", "comment on my top row all returned", blah blah blah. And, you know what? None were returned! Ha! How did I guess this would happen?! Hardly a scientific method or a large sample (3), but, my suspicions were confirmed. When someone takes the time to view my port and post a comment I always view their port out of curiosity. I am interested in seeing who took the time to look at my stuff and leave a comment. I usually return a comment as a nice gesture but I certainly don't feel bound or obligated to. But if I like what I see, why not? But these comment trade offers and solicitations; what does it all really mean? Comment whores; you've got to love them!

I did the same, I give it a try, commented on 2 people, and nothing, I knew it was going to happen... It remind me of the post here : https://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thread_id=886342 If it is bots, it is normal that nobody comment back When I receive a comment, I visit the page of the one who commented, I check his/her portfolio, if some photos inspire me to let a comment, I do it.. If I do not let a comment, that do not mean that I do not like the photos. But it mean that I do not have inspiration to let a constructive/interesting comment. But what I always do if someone let me a comment, I post a tag on her/his page... To say thank you even to those who critique your work is the best way to go further... No ? Usain Bolt I have a feeling they aren't bits or computer scripts. I'm guessing they are just inconsiderate comment whores that will do whatever they please to draw more attention to their profiles.

If they say "comments on my top row returned!" I always comment. But never on their top row. HA!

I comment work as I browse but I don't ask for them nor do I care. I get more traffic on google than I do here.

Comment for comment is stupid. Why do you want people to comment out of obligation? I don't care if you aren't genuinely into it.
