What do people think about shooting steam punk and how steam punk would you go with it?

I love the whole turn of the century Wellsian richness to the wardrobe and weaponry of the steam punk movement and would love to attend and shoot at a large meeting.

it has to be really really well done or it just looks like lame cosplay to me.

I did a steam punk shoot for a gallery show I was a part of last year.
It was fun. I completely sold out of prints.
If you know what you're doing- you can make anything look fantastic. If you are awful at what you're doing- even the most elaborate and unique concept will fall flat.

I use to do runway for Steampunk. It was fun. The designers I worked for were mostly in Steampunk type conventions or design contests. Some bellydancers are really into it.

The 'Renaissance Pleasure Faire' in Southern California has 'A Steam Punk Weekend' every year in the spring... with 100's of great steam punk outfits being worn all thru-out the fairgrounds... definitely worth checking out.

Steampunk in fashion shoots is invariably lame, but when genuine it's usually pretty awesome.  You can't just glue gears to something and call it steampunk.

It's one word, not two.
