There's this gal.  She posts 4 pics.  None of which are professionally done.

I offer her a TF session.

Then I wonder, am I being scammed?

What if they've been doing this all across the country?

Is she going to rob me?

Is she going to bring a gang of people with her?

Am I going to be all alone in the studio with all these crazed perverts all around me?

DON'T WORRY.  I'M JUST JOKING!

But really, that must be how a lot of people think...

Sorry!  I've just been dealing with a lot of "I only model if I have security escorts with me".

I'm just joking.  Hopefully someone can relate...

we allow all sorts of people on set and so far haven't had any problems in 100+ shoots. but i've had models say to me personally they've had 3 bad experiences in their first year of shooting. or even on their very first shoot.

you take your chances in this world. on both sides of the camera.

i'd be upset if someone stole from me but a lot less upset than if they went native and beat me up or killed me.

and sometimes it's not the model or photographer you need to worry about but the people they associate with. to me part of being successful in life is choosing to be with good people not bad. some people make excuses so they can stick with the bad and those are ones to worry about. sometimes (but hopefully not very often) models have to deal with horny photographers and photographers have to deal with drug addicts who will steal to feed their addiction.

Yes, yes, yes.  And as a model who has traveled the country, Danielle has the absolute right to call bullshit on this sort of thing--for models and for photographers.

Those of us who are actual professionals DO NOT deal in this sort of shenanigans, and those of you who accuse us of it are left in low esteem.

Just sayin'

so let me get this straight, you offered to her a TF shoot, which implies you contacted her,  and you are wondering if she is going to scam you...?

Thinking like a scamming model (if there is such a thing), if i were going to bring escorts to rob a photographer, i sure as he'll wouldn't be targeting those that look like they know what they are doing...

i'd be going after the GWCs...

People are going into butt-hurt mode before getting the sarcasm. IMO

And perhaps some have missed the posts started by models that OP is referring to

in all seriousness why wouldn't it be that way? good experiences with great photographers never get publicized.

That's simply business as usual.  That doesn't sell.  What sells in American media is scandal, crime and sleaze.  "If it bleeds, it leads" is the motto of most news outlets.

I simply ignore it all and enjoy working with those who are confident enough to trust their research, find out that I'm not a bad guy to work with, and enjoy their time with me.

I'm sure I'm not the only one.

If Gisele Bundchen, et al, wants to bring security, I say bring it on.
If Sally from the alley wants to bring security, I say Pass!

no you aren't

for the most part I dont have a problem with escorts on set, so long as they arent significant others, too much potential uncomfortableness and unwanted involvement.

The truth of the Internet, happy customers almost never post; it doesn't matter what the product/service/industry is its just how it goes.

I had contacted a model and we PM'd a few times about setting up a shoot, but I started getting a bad vibe from some of her statements and taking into account where she was from and her wanting to bring an escort. I decided to not set up a shoot. I shoot in my home and I am careful who I allow to come here.

Sarcasm does not work well on MM.

Neither does 'tongue in cheek'.

And god, forbid actual humour.

I have more than enough references to back up my professional reputation, if someone still feels the need to bring an escort (unless they're underage) I don't think I'd even bother.

All the same, I would like to emphasise to all models that references ARE well worth following up.
There are indeed a LOT of unscrupulous sleaze bags out there who also happen to own cameras.

it does seem like there are more shenanigans going on with folks Facebook presences, compared to the fun and games that used to be here.

it is a shame, feeling more and more like an old person whose friends have all moved away or passed away, looking around just seeing a bunch of weeds and loud whippersnappers

Back to the OP though, I've always tried to see things from at least both points of view, as more matters than just the side behind the camera.

I am glad to see that the sarcasm didn't extend to the "... thinking like a model" part of your statement.
