I live in Maine, which is one of the many states that let you "buy" vanity plates for your auto when you register it.

I am always looking for good, funny plates when I am traveling, and I had to laugh when I saw these 2 a couple of days ago!

On a family minivan:
pb4wego

On a BMW (I think, and I can't believe this one got passed the censors):

Seen any good plates lately?

Vanity plates drive me insane because 90% of the time it is something that isn't obvious like the person's initials or date of birth. Who cares?

But the two that I remember really well are my son's father's sister's car has a plate that says; NWARPDR (In warp drive) which is a Star Trek reference because she is a nerd.

One creepy guy who was in his mid 40's and was clearly going through a mid-life crisis was driving a red corvette and his plate said; AREU18? hmm

I love the funny ones, and really HATE the self-absorbed
Some plates of the self-absorbed I have actually seen in my area:

loverboy   seen on an old beat up Camaro
2cute4u
bmwqt   seen on a BMW driven by a middle-aged blonde.

I am not sure where the list is, but my grandfather spent about 20 years recording every personalized plate he saw...  I think there were over 25,000 plates recorded.

Sadly, I don't pay attention to them any more, not since he passed away

This plate pre-dated the movie wink

If I remember right, after the movie came out, I think someone complained to the state and pressured them to cancel the guy's plate.

I haven't paid attention in a while, but I used to take pictures (if I was the passenger or in stop and go traffic).

One was on a Prius: NOSUVS

Another on a Corvette: 185MPH

And another on a Mercedes: LUCKYU

It briefly crossed my mind that the latter might be El Shaddai, but then I thought "nah... that would be pretty downright awful". lol

Several old school geeky plates I see on my regular commute:

PLOVER and XYZZY - Both "magic words" in the "Colossal Cave Adventure" (an early text based game).
RS232 - the standard for serial ports

and one of my favorites was a red car with "PMS 226" (I think that was the right Pantone number - It closely matched the color of the car).

Best one ever.  And I am not making this up.  Not sure if they ever figured it out and canceled it.  But I've yet to see a better one.

That's a good one, and that just MIGHT get past the strict censors up here in Maine.

We have quite a few cities with French speaking residents, so the censors might think that that abbreviation "FA Que" stands for THE QUEBEC!  smile
