I'm a retired firefighter, married 37 years with three granddaughters.  An author, with a yearning for mastering to the best of my ability photography.  Why?  Because, I'm inspired by photography that seeks beauty, as it is the most natural element that draws people to see others as well as themselves.  It may be argued that in the dark, wretched places, you may find yourself, but if that were so then people would flock to the slums, barrios, and hoods as a fun destination, dangerous perhaps, maybe even terrifying. But people don't flock to these venues.  Indeed, people living in such places dream of fleeing.  Why, because you only need to be burned once to understand pain, whereas with beauty there are no limits and like a candle to a moth, the need, and desire to renew one's self rest in those venues that replenish one'a thirst for beauty be it in ones surroundings, or one's soul.  This is what draws me to photography -- to find beauty and to add my own bias as my contribution to photography, ever humble in the eyes of the masters.
