Philadelphia’s own SKATE, a dancer/choreographer and skateboarder also simply known as ‘SKATE’ is one of the dance industry’s most promising talents to shock the mainstream. His endless varieties of style include, Breaking, Freestyle, Street Jazz, and Hip Hop. He has work along side some of the industry’s leading choreographers such as Manwe Sauls Addison and Serena Soffer. He is also known for his ability to fuse various styles together creating an elixir of techniques and complex moves that demands the attention from his audience. SKATE began taking a strong interest in dance at the age of 15 as an alternative to prevent becoming another statistic in the urban community. It was during this time he discovered his gift and purpose. He made a conscious decision to nurture his talent by training at some the most highly respected dance studios in the United States including Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles and New York’s Broadway Dance Theatre. He decided that he would communicate with the world through the medium of dance full-time. Now 10 years later, SKATE has accomplished making a strong presence in the industry performing across the country and reaching international audiences. Some of his credentials include the Sobe Life Water live event in New York City, which has been viewed by over a half-million people globally. He has developed a following by choreographing and performing his pieces at the semi-annual choreographers event Carnival in New York City. Additionally, he has performed with Latina songstress Irazema and made an appearance in Selina Carrera’s “Energy” video. He also has been featured on NIKE Battlegrounds’ “King of the Court” Tournament. Although known for his work on the stage, SKATE has also been featured in print works with monster brands such as MasterCard’s “Roots of Rock” and EA’s “Rock Band 2” package. His natural charisma, unique look and athletic frame has even been featured in some of Europe’s elite fashion publications working with gifted photographers like Montana of NYC and Morten Smidt of NYC. SKATE is a unique individual with “tunnel vision”, not making room for distractions but allowing limitless opportunities ahead. His allure makes him a magnetic field to those who see, meet, and work with him, making him a familiar face in today’s industry.
