Photography is not work, photography is the relief from work, from tedium, from ennui. Photography is the release of imagination from the shackles of what is prim and proper. Photography is.

So - one photographs. One, of course, first imagines and then photographs. One hopes that performance can catch up to imagination and - sometimes - that even happens. Less frequently than one wants but more frequently than one fears.

Photography is, but to be it must be fed - with attention, with admiration and with dislike. With railroad shares, even. Just like a snark.
