Born in Quito, Ecuador in 1967 Roberto de Villacis is an American
citizen of the world based in Paris and Bal Harbour.since 1987.
His design philosophy is Le Devine in Design..

First discovered by Karl Lagerfeld in Paris upon graduating from Studio Berçot, Villacis started consulting in the mid 90' s as fashion/ creative designer for the iconic luxury houses of Missoni and Anna Molinari/ Blumarine . By 2000 Villacis became an art director for advertising creating the slogans, Believe in Beauty for Lancôme and The Poetry of Science for L' Oréal. Until his departure in 2007 he co/owned and designed the cult brand Trash-Couture/ Future Vintage London/Paris.

His designs have been photographed by the legendary Helmut Newton, Ellen Von Unwerth, Steven Meisel and featured in Vanity Fair, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, W, and Elle .Mega-stars including Penelope Cruz and Kirsten Dunst to super-models Kate Moss and Verushka showcased his original designs from red carpet premieres, press photos to charity events.

In 2007 America' s Pop Idol and Grammy award winner, Carrie Underwood selected De Villacis to create the dress for the album cover Carnival which went to become number one in America. His collaboration extended to designing the red carpet dress, a dis-ntegrated ballgown top worn with jeans for the Pop idol show and an evening dress for the music video of the Disney film Enchanted.

In honor of H.R.H. Princess Padmaja Mewar of Udiapur India, Villacis debuted his first couture show Le Jardin de Pheonix in 2008 with a private event hosted by the Hollywood media moguls and art patrons,
Lyn and Norman Lear. While in Paris during the Haute Couture F/W 2008 season the esteemed art gallery Karsten Greve presented Villacis and Le Jardin de Phoenix as an orchestrated happening. Villacis private A list clients includes Bohemian chic royalty: Keith Richards, Angelica Houston and Jemma Kidd, the Countess of Mornington.

First validated by the art world at Basel Art Unlimited 2000 for his collective United Aliens, Villacis continuously champions Fashion as Art. His designs have been exhibited in museums shows in France, Asia and in America at F.I.T.in the show Fashion on Film. Later film credits include Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada.
