After sifting through thousands of headshots I know that, despite your talent, if your photo doesn't jump out from the pile with specificity nothing else matters. Unfortunately most casting decisions come from looking at a photo for three seconds.
I want to help you get ahead in those three seconds.

I'm the head photographer for Starboard Photos. I'm passionate about helping performers create photographs that capture their personality, charisma and elusive "it" factor.

No matter who you are, everyone has a great photo in them. Allow me to share why I'm in unique position to help you achieve it.

My photography stems from a 20 year career as an actor and director. I studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and have performed in over 30 television commercials, and 60 plays internationally, in everything from 'Les Miserables' to playing the title role in Richard III in Central Park. I was given a camera at sixteen, and throughout all of this time have been documenting the performers that I love and work with ever since.

I was directing my own magazine format tv show at 19 years old and, have directed everything from Neil Simon to Shakespeare, as well as directing and producing work by today's most successful creators (Tony Award Winners Greg Kotis (Urinetown), Robert Lopez (Avenue Q) as a cofounder of Inverse Theater in NYC ("Best Downtown Theater Co."-NY Press).

The New York Times says that my work is "unseen since the death of Raul Julia."

There is a paradox: Your headshot is the most most important tool there is in this industry, which can cause no small amount of anxiety (not to mention cost), and yet, one needs to be relaxed and communicated with on a personal level to allow 'me' to be captured.

There are , frankly, many actors turned photographers. But when I take your picture I create it with the benefit of three perspectives:
What it feels like to be you, a performer, and how you need to be communicated with to achieve something memorable.

What it is to be a director and work with you till I help you achieve a multitude of winning moods, looks and angles.

And perhaps most importantly, as someone who has produced and cast for years.
