About Me

I have looked through a lens for most of my life and I will always be leaning the craft of photography. I look forward to expanding my portfolio via this site and chasing down the perfect shot.

I have been taking pictures since I was a kid after discovering my Dad’s Olympus 35mm film camera buried in the back of our coat closet.

I quickly took to a lens and began snapping images for hobby and art classes throughout my school years. I soon became the default photographer for all my friend and family events.

A few years later, when affordable consumer video came along, my interests quickly turned to the video camera. I began my career by selling consumer audio and video equipment, as it was a natural extension of all my interests.

After years of selling and installing equipment, it was time to apply my assets and knowledge in audio and video. I needed to feed my creative side and I eventually took a ground floor job at the local Public Television Station.

At PBS I quickly learned the ropes and moved through the television ranks in just a few years. I soon found myself producing and directing live weekly programs, shooting documentaries, and honing my graphic arts skills along the way.

After 7 years at PBS, I worked in Auburn, IN as a commercial producer for Cox Cable. From there I went on to FOX Television in Fort Wayne where I produced commercials, on-air graphics, web content, live events and promotional materials.

During my 15 years or so in television I am very fortunate to have learned volumes of valuable skills from the talented and helpful people I have had the privilege to work with.

During this time, I would always return the favor by helping out a friend with the occasional wedding shoot, or their kid’s senior photos, or a struggling band with gig flyers and promotional shots. As my skills grew I found I was being asked to do these jobs more as word of mouth spread. I was regularly asked “Where is your web site so I can see your work?”

I created Mark Lahey Images so people could see what I do and find a place for affordable creative services.

I kind of stumbled in to business by accident. I had so many friends and family who simply wanted quality photography, or graphics for their business or event, but could not afford what they were finding.

My work is for them... and you; ‘Regular Joes' who need "a friend in the business”. Thanks for visiting my site and let me know if I can help.
